"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Love the update. I really like your pictures. :thumbsup2

I have not seen the Jammin' Jungle parade in years. It is def on my "must see" list this year. It seems that when we go to DAK it is always so dang hot that I can't get anyone to stay long enough to see the parade. My family teases me and tells me that they don't understand why I NEED to see every single parade, every single trip. :lmao:.

Loving your TR!

Great update! I love the Safari. It really is a different ride everytime! And I bet you have a great evening. AK really does clear out after the parade.

Lately we've had a lot of really good ones. On some past trips when we've gone to AK in the afternoon we might see an animal here or there. I wonder if they are trying to do more to keep them in people's view. :confused3

nice update!!!

I loved working the parade at AK!

Random question..when I was a presenter and we had a parade rotation, where you stood is where we would stand but one person inside the ropes and one outside the ropes.

Did you see any presenters doing parade control? They'd be in khaki and red shirts. When I was there in March they were in the AK ent. with bug boxes for the rope drop of AK. I didn't know if those positions were elminated or not, if so thats crazy!

Hmm, that is a good question. I know I saw parade control people but I don't remember if they were wearing red shirts. Sorry, that's no help. :guilty:

I love that your dad read the Hidden Magic book too! I hope that a part 2 is made because that was so fun to read.

Oh wow, I've never seen a giraffe sitting like that before.

That would be cool if they did a second one.

I think the giraffe was just standing behind the grass but I did see some giraffes sitting down. That was just weird!

Say whaaaaaat? You were IN the parade? Christmas trees?! :rotfl2:

If you could put a caption bubble over the elephant, what would it say?

My second say whaaaat? of this update... spitting?! What was their point?

LOL, yeah, on our trip in Jan. '08 it was our last day and we were at the AK in the afternoon. We were waiting for FOTLK in Camp Minnie Mickey when a CM started talking to us. She asked us what our plans were for the afternoon and then asked if we wanted to be in the parade! It was sooo cool. They gave us a disposable camera (they took all the families' pictures as the parade started) but I think Mom threw it away before we ever got it developed. :guilty:

Ugh, I know, that was just so stupid. I don't know where people come up with some of these ideas.

Great safari pictures! I didn't get any good giraffe pictures this trip :(

The wait times looked the same the day before. We also found them to be off from the attractions board posting. Except Kali. That line was loooong!

I was a little surprised Kali was so long but it's not like we were planning on doing that anyway. What if our luggage didn't show up?! haha

What lovely pictures! Believe it or not, we have never seen the parade in AK.

I LOVE the safari! You've read my PTR. You know our new love for it. I may have to get the hidden magic book.

Oh yes, I know you guys all love the safari. That was so awesome how you got to ride the first one of the day. :thumbsup2

Great update! :thumbsup2

I'm sure you enjoyed the rest of your evening at AK. To me, the evening is the best time at AK---It cools off a little bit, and the crowds thin out. :)

I agree!

Great update girl!

I agree, the posted wait times and the actual wait times are usually 2 different things! But wow- Kali was posted as 100 minutes?!

Aw, the parade! :goodvibes I'm trying to figure out exactly where you were..I think we were right across from you. We were right by the Dawa bar.

I love that pic of the posters! Isn't the "Hidden Magic" book awesome?!

Yup, you must've been right across from us because we were on the opposite side of the Dawa Bar. We were on the side where there's those couple stores.

The Hidden Magic book was so cool. Makes you appreciate all those added touches that first timers might not notice.

Great pictures of both the parade and the safari!

We had a family that kept getting in trouble for letting their kids stand up during one of our safari rides last trip as well, they didn't listen when the driver asked them to sit down either :sad2: Probably the same kind of people who would sue Disney if their child fell and got hurt while breaking said rule......

Thanks!

That is just crazy. Seriously, why would you stand up on the safari??? It's sad that some people act like that.

Even though the wait time posted outside the safari had dropped to 20 minutes during the parade, it didn't take us anywhere near that long to get boarded. In fact it only took us about 5 minutes to get to where they collect the fastpasses and the lines come together.

This was the first time we walked behind the Tusker House and looked at some of the things there. We also heard the sound of breaking dishes and a woman's voice coming from out of one of the second floor windows at the back of the building. One of those hidden touches.

Yeah, it might've taken 10-15 min.

The breaking dishes was pretty funny.

Great update!

You took some awesome pictures!

That's so cool that you got to participate in a Disney parade! That is a dream of my family's

Can't wait to see your pictures of Asia!

Thanks!

It was one of my dreams too. I was bummed that it was our last day in Disney but that made it a little better. :)

Love the update. I really like your pictures. :thumbsup2

Thanks Sophia. :)

LOL, we hardly ever see the parades either. I know if my sister had been along we probably wouldn't have bothered.

Glad you're enjoying the TR!

Ooohh....I love those popcorn bowls!!!:thumbsup2

Great pictures of the parade! We've never seen the Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade.:confused3 It looks really cute!:goodvibes

Sounds like a fantastic way to start a trip. A parade right off the bat! And the Safari! :thumbsup2

I simply cannot believe someone would SPIT off of the Safari bus! What is wrong with people! First off, you shouldn't spit in public, but you definitely should not do it on a Disney ride! :sad2:

Hi Sarah!

Joining in! Love your TR so far! And LOVE those popcorn bowls - my kids would love those...hmmm, may have to go do some shopping online!

Sorry to hear about the frustrations with the flight, but like you said, at least it was only an hour delay and you still got there in time to head over to AK. GREAT pix of the parade - that looks so cute, can't wait to see it when we're there! Can't wait tot hear about more of your trip!

Karen

Hey!

I am the same way with pictures when we first get there. I am so excited to see it all that I don't stop to take many pictures at first. Things do look different in real life as opposed to through a camera lens.

Kidani sounds so beautiful! :goodvibes I think we'll have to stay there sometime...

Being in the parade was probably really fun! I think we've seen it once and caught a few minutes of it from time to time. I really love the Africa area of Animal Kingdom. One of the best things about Disney is their attention to detail.

That Kali line is always a wait, isn't it? :goodvibes

A hippo actually out of the water! Too bad my camera is too slow that the dumb rock got in the way.
Oh my goodness. I think I've taken like one good picture on the Safari. And it was a picture of a termite mound. My camera sucks and it chooses to have a terrible delay at all the wrong times. Or right as it's about to take the picture, the Safari truck will hit a rock and everything winds up blurry. One of these years I'm expecting an ostrich to reach in and grab my camera.

And that is GROSS that people were spitting out of the Safari truck. Well, actually spitting in general is gross, but doing it on a ride...YUCK.

Oh and also, I am so incredibly jealous that you got picked to be in the parade. I've always wanted to be picked. I'd totally be those people who were dancing along, too. The music from that parade is so catchy.

Those parade pictures are great. I don't think we've ever stopped to see that one.
We had a similar problem on one of our safaris. There was a happy who keep holding thier toddler up in the air almost over the side. The driver would stop and ask them not to do it, but they keep on. My heart was in my throat the whole time. I love the safari, but I was glad when that one was over.

Aww I love the Jammin' Jungle Parade!!

AK is definitely a great park to just explore in and take in all the details. I have a huge love for that park :goodvibes

Kristen- we are watching the parade from the Dawa bar!! Another loopy moment. :rotfl:

The parade is a lot of fun. Be warned though if you do ever see it you will have the song stuck in your head for hours. :rotfl:

I know, it was awesome. We hardly ever see the parades anymore!

Ugh, I know, so gross right?! As soon as I heard the CM say that I wanted to give the person an evil glare...I turned around but didn't know who the culprit was.

Hi Karen! Thanks for reading!!!

OMGosh you are going to have a blast when you guys go. I know you've still got a few months but I can't wait to read your TR (I hope you do one!). It's so great reading about first timers' experiences. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean, sometimes even good pictures don't do things justice. :guilty:

YES, you should stay at Kidani/AKL sometime. I would definitely suggest it to others.

I loved getting to be in the parade. It is probably one of my favorite Disney memories. :goodvibes

LOL, the termite mound! What kind of camera do you have? I know they suggest using sport mode if you have it. I think I still just use auto and have been lucky enough to get a few decent ones but I know I've missed some great shots too.:mad::mad:

We have just seen people do WEIRD stuff in WDW sometimes. Like there was one time too when we went on Tower of Terror and this dude got on the elevator with his popsicle and the CM was waiting for him to finish. When he did he gave the CM the stick. What the heck?!

Those parade pictures are great. I don't think we've ever stopped to see that one.

Perfectttttttt idea!!!!! :rotfl2:

Hey now girls, why are we discussing plans for your trip on my TR?! No more of that! LOL, just kidding. ;)

I know you guys are going to have so much fun together. :thumbsup2

We're sorry. :flower3: I just thought it was appropriate to mention here since we were on the topic!

Great update Sarah! The safari is one of our favorites as well. I think it would be so great to be picked for one of the parades. :goodvibes

Great Update Sarah! I just love the Safari, it's my favorite attraction at DAK!!! Oh, and the wait times really weren't all that bad considering you were there at the height of spring break!

I knew you would.

Yup, I'm nice like that.

It was a really neat surprise. I had no idea when the CM started talking to us she would ask us if we wanted to be in the parade. :thumbsup2

No, they really weren't bad. We've seen a lot worse (mainly at Christmas/New Year's!).

Good morning DIS friends!!! TGIF. :thumbsup2

Another random update. I was just reading my sister's Twitter and she mentioned something about a Brewers Mickey. As soon as I saw that I was like WHAT?! Two of my favorite things! So I went to do some exploring and this is what she was talking about:

pMLB2-7135879dt.jpg

You might be wondering why they'd have such a thing. Well, the All Star Game this year is in Anaheim (not too far from Disneyland!!!) so they made these as a collectible for all of the teams. We are going to the game this weekend and she said she's going to see if they have it. haha! Kind of cool.

Hope to have another real update done after school!
