Hello Fellow DISers,

I will be traveling with my family to our magical vacation location next August. We intend on getting the DxDP for this vacation. We have done the DxDP before so we know what we are getting into with the amount of food. Our eyes are wide open and will not be bigger than our stomachs :lmao: or so we think. :rotfl2: We are booked at the Art of Animation (as of right now). Our family consists of Me, Dh and our 2 children who are disney adults (13 and 10 at time of travel). We are also a foster family and have 2 lovely little girls right now. If they are still with us at the time of travel, we intend on taking them if we are allowed. They will be 6 and 7 years old at the time of travel. Now I will say that all 4 of the children are mobile garbage disposals and Dh can also put away a large amount of food :lmao:. I am the one who eats the least, but love to try lots of different things. So I want to know what you think about our choices in Restaurants for this upcoming trip. Some are new to us, repeats and favorite must do's. I will let you know what each one is after each restaurant name. So having said all that, here is the list...

Arrival day- Yachtsman Steakhouse (new)

Our HS day- Counter service (if you have a suggestion, let me know-we will be on disney transportation and not have a car)
Sci-Fi (repeat, Dh loves but I could take or leave)
50's (favorite for whole family, must do)

Our AK day- Tusker House (repeat)
Yak & Yeti (repeat)
Maya Grill (somewhere between repeat and favorite)

Our 1st MK day- 1900 Park fare (new for B with Alice and friends, Done D many times)
Liberty Tree Tavern (repeat)
Cosmic Ray's (favorite CS location)

Our 2nd MK day- Crystal Palace (repeat)
Tony's (repeat, DH loves but I could take or leave)
Ohana (favorite of whole family)

Our 1st Epcot day- Sunshine Seasons (new for B)
Le Cellier (favorite for whole family)
Biergarten (new)

Our 2nd Epcot day- Akershush (repeat)
La Hacienda (new)
Teppan Edo (favorite of whole family)

our DTD day- WGPE (new)
Spirit of Aloha (new)

Our Departure day- counter service (don't know what time we will have to get on Magical express so not sure what we can do that morning)

I would love to know what you like and don't like and why. What did you like there or not like entree, app and dessert, all of it. We are not drinkers so that doesn't matter to us. I realize that the answers will run the gamut from love to hate and everything inbetween, but I want to see and hear it and know why you say that, just for my knowledge. It may sway us one way or another, or not. Please let me know the good , the bad :sad2:, and even the ugly :scared1: Thanks for your contribution in advance.

We love Yachtsman. I had the filet mignon; DH had the NY Strip.

Sci-Fi - I was pleasantly surprised here. I had read so many bad reviews that I wasn't expecting much. I had the steak and blue cheese salad. It was really good. So was the oreo shake. My DH enjoyed his Reuben.

Love, love, love Tusker House and Crystal Palace for breakfast.

We didn't like Ohana the one time we went. By the reviews here, we are definitely in the minority. Maybe it was an off day. If we ever stay at the Poly again, maybe we'll give it another try.

I enjoyed LeCellier when we went a few trips ago. DH did not, but steak isn't his favorite.

I didn't like Biergarten; DH did. I don't like German food so it's just my personal preference.

Akershush - good for character interaction; food was OK.

Teppan Edo - we all enjoyed.

Spirit of Aloha - it was OK but we wouldn't do again.

Spirit of Aloha - it was OK but we wouldn't do again.

Only reason we are doing this is because we haven't ever done it and thought we should, just to say we should. I have heard it is hokie and a little corny, but I feel I should do it once. Not sure if I really should or not??? :confused3

HS day - well, that depends on what food is going to be available at Art of Animation, doesn't it? Might be good to try for breakfast, even if it's just a food court. But if it's a no go (or if you try it and it disappoints), hit Starring Rolls or Writer's Stop in HS. You'll use some snack credits, but they are worth using at both places for yummy pastries and beverages.

AK all looks good. There are so few CURRENT reviews for Maya that I've been afraid to try it, but it's getting higher on my "one of these days" list.

MK days are all good, although if you just want CS for dinner the first day I'd go to one of the monorail resort CS locations instead. It makes a "break" from the park but with less travel time than going back to your own resort. And the food options are better at resort CS than at park CS, especially at dinner - the parks stay the same but the resort CS menus all expand at dinnertime.

Epcot - you will love Biergarten. Good food, friendly atmosphere.

Non-park day - I don't know that I would give really high marks to Spirit of Aloha, but if you have already done HDDR then I think it's fair to give it a try.

Departure day - I like to do a resort breakfast this day if at all possible. If you have those little girls I think you really need to try for a character breakfast: probably Chef Mickey or 1900 PF (where I think the breakfast characters are particularly warm and endearing). If you are not traveling with the little ones, I'd suggest Boma breakfast. To me it just makes a nice way to cap off my vacation before going back to the harsh reality that is air travel nowadays.

Quinn > we have not done HDDR because our son (13) is autistic spectrum and would not like that show or having the music play like that. He only survives the lines because we have a GAC. I did that when I was young with my parents and I know my son would HATE it. I wouldn't mind having them see it but I know it would be a disaster.

Thanks for your reply. We love Maya Grill. We have been there two times and it wasn't busy either time and had great food and great service both times. It is almost a must do, it will depend on the menu changes. I would give it a try next time you are down.

As for our departure day, I am hoping to get a mid-afternoon flight home so we can do a sitdown meal at a resort buffet before we leave. Fingers will be crossed closer to ressie times.

That's exactly how we felt about it. Plus, we were staying at the Poly. The show was somewhat entertaining. If I remember correctly, the food was OK - nothing spectacular (though the bread was good). My DD was 7 at the time and probably ate nothing, even though they try to accommodate kids with PB&Js.

Hi neighbor,

We love Tusker House breakfast, CP breakfast was just ok for us, and it seems to take forever! Akershus is our most favorite breakfast, the potatoes are yummy!

We really enjoy Biergarten. You are seated at large tables, so usually with other people. The band is very fun and festive, and the audience gets into singing along. The food is average, imo, but the atmosphere is great!

Biergarten also has music played by a band.

I know that they have a band, but I am hoping that we can be there for only part of the show and he would be ok if it is not the whole meal. If we can have most of our meal and then get the show at the end, my DS would have food and mostly full belly and then be ok to deal with the music. Whereas with the HDDR, it is during the whole meal. Again, crossing our fingers.
