So in June we will be doing Orlando (one week) for the first time. We really don't like the adrenalin-rush rides, so that gives us a lot more time. I've read Simon's book, got advice from you guys and put together this programme, so .... how does this sound?

Sunday, arrive Orlando
Monday, Sea World
Tuesday, Magic Kingdom
Wednesday, Disney MGM morning; afternoon, rest!
Thursday, lazy morning; afternoon Typhon Lagoon
Friday, Animal Kingdom
Saturday, shopping mall and outlet stores
Sunday, drive to Sanibel for a week's rest!!

Can I make a suggestion that you add Epcot to the list ? Maybe spend an evening there after visiting one of the other Disney parks during the day and have dinner at the one of the restaurants in World Showcase, followed by watching the Reflections of Earth fireworks at 9pm.

Apart from that it sounds like a nice relaxing schedule to start with. Have a wonderful trip.

Just reading all the information I could on Epcot, it sounded the least interesting to me, and I felt that I had to cut something out, or we'd be exhausted.

What dates in June will you be there ? The flower and garden festival runs at Epcot until the 8th, and that is definitely worth a look.

I used to think that Epcot was the least interesting of the theme parks in Orlando, but it is certainly growing on me. We often visit in the evening, if only to watch the SIMPLY WONDERFUL Reflections of Earth fireworks & laser show. I really recommend you find time to see this - perhaps on your Friday after spending a day at Animal Kingdom (which closes at 5pm, giving plenty of time to get across to Epcot).

Hi !
I agree - I think it would be a shame if you didn't experience EPCOT. How about crashing out at TL on Thursday morning, and make your way to Epcot late afternoon / early evening ?

I'm not a big shopping fan so I'd probably drop that. If the Disney vibe gets you - try 'The Marketplace ' at Downtown Disney - Disney Shops galore !
:)

If I were to drop a park it would be Epcot, especially if I had young kids or didn't want to walk too far. If you are going to go perhaps you could take in the evening display on Wednesday.

I don't think you can do MGM justice in a morning.

Could I suggest going to Typhoon Lagoon in the morning instead of the afternoon, you might not get in later in the day. If you can fit it into your schedule I would also suggest going to Epcot and Downtown Disney. I wasn't fond of either when we started going but they both have grown on me.

Hope you have a great time whatever you decide to do.

Another vote for going to the water parks in morning. Queues will tend to build up from mid-morning, so you will have a much more relaxing time if you visit the park when it's quieter (even if you leave around lunchtime to relax at your hotel). This applies equaly to all the theme parks in Orlando - beat the queues by visiting as soon as they open!

I have to agree with many of the others who recommended Epcot, It's my favourite park. My DS 13 also loves Epcot.

We love the World Showcase at Epcot but don't bother with most of the other attractions in the 'science' bit, except the 'golf ball' ride!! An evening there would be well spent. We found the key to not 'overdoing it' was to get in the parks as soon as they open, leave at midday when they are really crowded, spend time relaxing by the pool in the afternoon and go to a park or resort hotel to eat in the evening. That way you get to see a lot and also take it easy. I 've known friends get really burnt out overdoing the parks and really not enjoy the hoilday as much as we did, even though we didn't pack it all in.:) :) :)

If you're going to Sanibel for a weeks rest I wouldnt bother with any rest times during your stay in Orlando but I like to do commando style touring.:D
