So what are people thinking about the MYW packages With Dining?

[QUOTE but since the dining plan is a separate part of the package it doesn't seem like it should be that difficult to include the 10/11 year olds for the child's price if they are only allowed to order off of the child's menu.
I'm sure 10/11 yos will be able to order off the adult menu if you're buying the package and paying an adult price.

If you're not on a package, a 6yo can order from the adult menu. In the "old days", our oldest son would usually order from the adult menu when he was grade school age even though we were on the Gold plan. Our younger two were more the chicken strips or burgers type when they were maybe 6-10...or maybe 12 :D .

I guess I didn't word that as clearly as I should have. What I was trying to say was that 10/11 year olds on the package could be charged at the child's rate and only allowed to order off of the child's menu. I did not mean to imply that I believed they would be restricted to the child's menu if we are paying the adult rate. From what I've read today, the point is moot anyway as it seems the age cutoff is going up whether on the package or not.

Sorry, Susan. I did misunderstand you. When I read your original post after your explanation, I "get" it!

I read in another post that the dining option will only be available with a room package. Aren't the room-only discounts much better than the room rates through a package? It doesn't seem to make sense to give up the room discount to get the meal plan, eventhough the meal plan seems like a good deal.

Am I wrong about the room rates with a package?

In the past, each three letter room only code had a matching four letter code that was used for packages. That way you were able to take advantage of room discounts and still book a package.

I'm hoping this will continue. I called AAA yesterday and was told that they will offer discounts on the new packages.

I am really interested to see how it works out.. It sounds like it would be a great thing for us!

At $35 each for 1 sit down meal, 1 counter service and a snack for each night you stay. You can make out Very well. The plan includes appitizer, entree, dessert, non alcoholic drink, tax and tip.

I thought this add on was interesting until I saw that most of the restaurants I would like to try are "signature" restaurants that require trading of two table service credits. The only table service place that really appeals to me is Le Cellier.

I wish the would let AP holders add on the MYW Dining Plan. My kids are under 9 so it would only cost me $100 a day. I know we spend way more than each day.

TOTALLY agree.

The early reports made it sound like anyone could get the MYW dining plan, not that it had to be part of a WDW package.

If it was, I'd be all over it - it is a great deal; when I go to Le Cellier or Brown Derby for lunch it's easily over $30pp for the one meal alone, add in the tip and you essentially get lunch (counter service) and the snack for free.

N.E.D.

Am I understanding that this dining package will only be offered to those who are getting a MYW package? The reason I ask, is that we get a discount on our room because my husband is an airline employee, and we already purchased AP vouchers. The dining plan would definitely help our budget. Just trying to configure the best way to go. Thanks.

I found out I can still access the disney travel agents web site, although I am no longer employed by a travel agency. They must have not taken me out of the system yet :). If anyone wants it, pm me. It sounds great, but since dh and I are dvcr's, we won't be able to take advantage of the dining options.
