So, what about the value resorts?

I've been doing a lot of thinking and listening to people on the DIS. Since it is just the two of us, and since we usually only sleep at the hotel it seems as thought a value resort would make sense. I could take a longer vacation or return later in the year. So, what are your thoughts on the value resorts?

Thanks!

Hey there, :)

We stayed at Pop Century in Dec and we really liked it. Even though I am staying somewhere different this time, I would definately stay at Pop again. Probably will in October. They are great, esp. if you can get a code or pin. In Dec. we had a code and got the room for $49/night. Rates like that allow us to go back multiple times. And I found the hotel to be up to Disney standards, enjoyed the pool and food court and thought the bus service was great. :)

Have a good trip!

I've also chosen the value resorts and have been pretty happy with them. Next month I'm staying at POP for the first time (have stayed at all 3 AS's) because I got a postcard rate and will be staying for $49/night.

When I factored in that I could get an AP plus the hotel for the same price as just a moderate room only, my decision was made up. My next stay (when I have the AP and don't need to pay for that) will most likely be at a modeate or AKL.

But I'm looking forward to the POP, not regretting my decision at all.

I have stayed in 2 of the AllStars, sports and movies.

The first time (Sports) was b/c I was in college and going with friends and it was the easy cheap alternative to staying offsite.

The 2nd time, I chose to go to an All Star b/c I enjoyed it so much the first time. It was only 2 of us and we loved it. The only thing I would recommend in either hotel would be to try and get a closer room. At movies we were in the Love Bug section. We found that we never wanted to refill our mug b/c neither one of us wanted to bring it back to the room, or carry it with us for the day. Also after a long day at the parks, that last long walk to the room, could get on the nerves of some.

I am looking forward to trying POP.

Good luck with your decision!

We stayed at Pop last September and we loved it. The DD's are bummed that we won't be staying there this year. We just want to stay somewhere different. But we will stay at Pop again. The transportation was great and the grounds are beautiful.

I've stayed at the Movies, Music & Pop and we LOVED the Movies much, much more than the other two. The themeing is great, as is the staff and the foodcourt.

stayed at asmovies twicw enjoyed both times food cout is pretty good too :wave2:

I always stay at the Values beciause we only use them to sleep and bathe. Wonderful and they definetly have the Disney feeling.

Just to add to the otherside of the coin. Correct me if I'm wrong but all the value resorts are double beds? I can't do it. Love my wife to death but I move around alot when sleeping, so I use a king at home and will have a Queen at WL.

Now it has been years since I've been to a value resort but my other issue was the lack of a sit down restaurant for breakfast. I'm talking back in the early 90's. I can't do the bagel breakfast, many people can but I just prefer sit down service. I'm sure the food courts have much more to offer now but I vowed to myself when I go back I was going to stay at resort with full service restaurants. WL fit the bill.

Whatever fits your lifestyle. It is the little things that can make a good vacation a great vacation :teeth:

Yes value resorts have double beds but you can get a king bed if you request it (sometimes they are handicapped rooms)... or each of you could have your own bed for a change. heehee

As for the food court... you can still have sit down meals there. My husband and I will order our breakfasts (eggs, bacon, hf and toast for me, fruit cup and croissant for him) and take them outside to eat or there's seating inside the food court (but can get loud!).

We are trying the POP this trip but stayed at ASMo last trip and VERY much enjoyed it for the length of time we spent at the resort. Enjoy!

I stayed at All Star Music for a solo trip and enjoyed it. However, I don't think I would want to stay there with my boyfriend. I don't think I would get a good night sleep in a double bed.

I've only ever stayed All-Star, so let me offer my credentials:
1994- All-Star Music: 4 people
1997: 7 (yes, 7) people age 15 & up, and one infant. In one room. Looking back, I don't know how in the world we all fit, but we did. And it was a great trip!!!
(TURN OFF THE FLAME THROWERS, I WAS A MINOR. MY MOTHER PLANNED THIS, AND I HAD NO CONTROL, ONLY REPORTING WHAT OCCURED)
2002: One week with DH in AS Sports
2005: 3 days in All- Star Music, Country Fair...Long Long walk...with 2 adults and children ages 5, 3, 2, 1, 1.

I absolutely love the values, and no touches are overlooked. Even on the trip woth DH, when we did more than just shower and sleep, the accomadations were wonderful. The food court offers anything you could want to eat. I woke up every morning this past trip to Mickey Waffles for breakfast (I'm gonna have tyo get myself that waffler)
The only reson we are planning on upgrading to moderate next trip is for my mother- she has taken us on her penny as teenagers, and now we want to fulfill her wish, and stay at CS. It reminds her of places in New Mexico.
This post got ALOT longer than I planned, so if you got this far, thanks for listening to me ramble! In conclusion, even without kids, the All-Stars are AWESOME!!!!! ( just make sure NOT to be in the Country Fair building!!!!)

The first trip we took to WDW we stayed at the AllStar Sports, (DH, myself and 2 year old DS). We loved it! :) We stayed at the AKL in 2003 for the single reason that we got a REALLY, REALLY great rate (like $200 more for the same trip). We're now going back to ASSP. DH and DS sleep in one bed, DD and myself in the other- but we did this at AKL too. The kids just sleep better in a strange place next to mommy and daddy, KWIM? The walking thing doesn't bother me that much, I think we walked just as far to catch the bus at AKL as we did from the Baseball Building at ASSP.

As you can see below, we have always stayed at a value resort and have had no complaints. The kids really like the theming. I would take a longer vacation and stay at a value rather than shorter and stay somewhere else.

I love the value resorts - especially Pop Century.

they aren't the moderates nor the deluxes.

but can be enjoyed for what they are.

Pop century if you were born doing the 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90's will have lots of memories.

it is a fun place to stay.
