but not to go to the game. DS goes to school there and is turning 21. Luckily we've had our hotel booked for several weeks before we knew the "big game" would be going on. I know how Steelers fans are and I'm expecting the city will be quite abuzz with activity. Just hope it's not sooooo crowded we can't do anything. It's also going to be veeeerrrrry cold this weekend. We have a dinner reservation Sunday night at Morton's Steakhouse for his birthday. Any other suggestions for possibly indoor stuff to do? (or are we crazy for still going?)

I don't think you're crazy. It probably won't be too bad unless you're on the North Shore around 5ish on Sunday. :) Morton's is right in downtown, isn't it?

Have you gone to the art museums? That would be fun. I also love Phipps Conservatory, which has many indoor exhibits. I don't know if the gargoyle exhibit is still there, but that looked very interesting.

Have fun, stay safe and warm!

The Warhol museum is great - so is the science museum although they are both near the football game.

Natural history museum is good too - and in the other direction! Taking a walk through the strip district is always fun unless it is bitter cold.

...awesome. Does he go to Duquesne (sp?)??? My niece looked at that school and may wind up going there in the fall...

Sorry, you're screwed. Sunday in town, including Morton's, will be a madhouse. :headache:

Become a Steeler fan for the day, soak up the atmosphere, tolerate the nitwits, and roll with it. If your son enjoys cultural stuff, the Warhol is a good option. Walking distance from Morton's.

What he said!

Every part of the city and anywhere near the city will be over run with Steeler fans. There will be tons of traffic. Even if people don't have tickets and aren't going to the game, alot will come into the city or surrounding areas to watch the game.

The Science Center will be closed on Sunday (due to the Steeler game).

Happy Birthday to your son and GO STEELERS!!

OK, take what the other Pittsburghers said then! I've been in downtown during Steeler games and it was fine, not crazy at all. But that wasn't during playoff games, so I guess that must be a different beast.

I can't see Morton's being crowded during the game, though. It's not like it's a bar with a bunch of big screen TV's all around.

How about touring the Nationality Rooms at the Cathedral of Learning on Pitt's campus? I would also highly recommend touring http://www.bayernhofmuseum.com/

The city will be crowded before and after the game. Shouldn't have any trouble (except for finding parking) during the game as everyone will be watching it.

As others have said, the museums are always good bets for cold days.

You could also venture over to The Waterfront in Homestead. It's outside of the city limits and there is a movie theater, lots of shops, restaurants, a comedy club and piano bar.
