Just found out that we have till the end of the week to cancel our room block by 40% and whats left after that that we don't fill we have to pay $106 a night for. So this could end up costing us $3000 to pay for rooms noone is using. And Im sure this was explained to us when we were planning everything with our sit down session all in one day, but it was by no means stressed upon. If anything, we should have been told to book less rooms than we thought and we could add rooms later. Especially since guests can book a room through the regular website with the discounts Disney gives out and get a better deal. You just call and add those ressie numbers whenever you want. So not a single person coming to our wedding used the wedding phone number to book. And another stupid thing is we were told that we could find people who are staying down at Disney during the time of our wedding and use their ressie numbers by our wedding specialist. If this is the case, why even hassle me to have to ask around on a message board for strangers to give me their ressie numbers just to meet my number of days booked?? If your telling me to basically just lie to fill it in, why even bother? :headache: Dont I have enough to worry about?

So if anyone is going to be in Disney in early May, would you care to share your ressie # by PM so I can add it to my list and try to save myself $3000? Thanks for anyone willing to help!

Won't any of your guests share their reservation numbers with you or are you saying none of them are staying on property? I wish I could help!

Did your guests book at the hotel where you blocked the rooms (just via a different reservation channel) or at different hotels?

Well most of our guests are staying off property because they have time shares or know someone with a time share or they are just getting cheaper deals off property, or they are planning on doing other things in Florida besides Disney. We do have some people staying on property and we've already added them, but now we need another 31 room nights for people staying on property.

Are most of your guests staying onsite? If so, you should be able to get the reservation numbers from your guests and even if they are staying at a different resort on property then what you blocked, you should be able to apply it to your minimum. Unless it has changed since 2009-2010?

Yeah we already did that and are still going to need 31 room nights to fill it. This wasn't explained to us very well at our planning session so we overbooked the amount of rooms being held figuring we'd just cancel what we didn't need, not realizing that you have to pay for a certain amount of rooms.

Yup. It's in the contract. Before I submitted mine, I lowered my room block nights based on that stipulation.

Post the dates that you have the roomblock for, and some people might be able to help you out! You get a discount with the roomblock, so I think people would take advantage of it.

You might even try the resort or planning threads... just explain the situation and ask them to PM you for information on how to set it up.

I hope you fill your block!

I say just go ahead and lower it. It's in our contract that we have to lower our room block by 60 days out to avoid the "penalty", which I am totally fine with. We booked something like 45 room nights and based this number off initially calling every single guest we were inviting and asking them if they were planning on staying onsite, and that number is actually lower than the number of people that said yes. And guess what, we are 4 1/2 months out and DF and I are the ONLY people who have booked rooms so far. I put on our website that the room block would be closed 60 days out too, so hopefully people will get the message. So, if you're saying that you didn't even really "need" a room block to begin with, and none of your guests even booked using the wedding phone number, get rid of the room block. It doesn't seem like it would really make a big difference.

Can you get rid of the room block all together? I'd assume not, since we're less than 60 days out, but noone needed it. Everyone just booked using the normal Disney discounts on the disney website. The wedding is May 6th, so if anyone else can help it would be greatly appreciated!

Read your contract carefully and see what it says. My wedding is 4/18/11. My room block provision says i had to use at least 25 nights or something like that. The first time i read this provision it said something like you have to guarantee us 80% of the rooms you hold, with the option of reducing the number a certain time period before the wedding. I called up before i signed the contract and said something like I read somewhere that for every additional 50 nights we book we get another free complimentary night. All of a sudden my consultant said OH, you want "that" provision. NOW my room block provision says all i have to give them is 25 nights, all nights above that can be released 3 months in advance (which i already did) and every additional 50 nights gets us another complimentary night! It is not fair that they have so many options yet they don't offer them and now your signed into the contract. All i can say to you is post on disboards people will either book in your block or maybe they can give you their reservation numbers. i had some help that way.. good luck!

I would do as some sugessted post this infomation on a few different resort threads and planning threads I'm sure there are a ton of people that are staying during your wedding that will be willing to give resvation numbers to help you out, it's no harm to them. Good Luck!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, maybe I misread what you were saying. :confused3 When you say you can cancel your block by 40%, does that mean you STILL have 31 rooms to fill? I'm just making sure I'm reading that right. If so, I agree with PP's, definitely post everywhere on the board to see if people can give you their ressie numbers or if people still need to book rooms during your time frame, and they can use your wedding discount.

Thanks so much to those that have responded so far! :worship: Anymore ressies would certainly be appreciated! We're still about 17 nights off from where we need to be! Hoping more pixie dust comes my way! :wizard:

Just wanted to bump one last time in hopes that if there is anyone going in early May they might be willing to let us use their reservation # to fill our room block! We're short by about 15 nights or so and dont' have the funds to cover it. :(

If anyone is willing to help, please PM me!!

Do you still need 15 nights? Because I have already fulfilled my room block and I have a few guests I didn't need to "use" for it... I can get their reservation numbers for you if you're still short.
