So just the other day I was at a pottery place and as I was paying for my painting experience, the lady asked for my credit card. I gave her my Disney one and she remarked, "Oh how cute!" and I said yep, "I love Disney!" and she told me how she had gone during Christmas and how great it was. And we continued the conversation of how much we each love Disneyland and how I want to go this year and so on.

At moments like these, I always want to ask, "So, have you ever heard of the DISboards?" or "So, are you a member of the DISboards?"

Another time at the retail store I work at, a lady was purchasing some items and I told her I loved her Mickey shirt and mickey purse. And she said that she always is wearing something Disney and all her friends know her as a Mickey lover. I wanted to ask her the same questions, but I didn't, for the fear that they'll think I'm a nerd. So all the time I just wonder, could other DISboard members be right under my nose...my next door neighbor? My dentist? My pharmacist? How funny would that be to find out?

Maybe I'll just start walking up to random people and asking them...:rotfl:

Yesterday I went to the optometrist and the girls at the front desk had little Mickey things everywhere! I wanted to ask who was the Mickey lover (obviously there had to be at least one!) and if they go to DLR often since we're so close and yadda yadda... But they were busy, so I didn't feel it was the right time to strike up a convo...

While I'm at work I check the Dis and read a few threads.. My coworkers always say "I don't get it! What is it about Disneyland that you can talk to people that MUCH about it!!". They don't get it.... :confused3

Also when I wear something I have (sweatshirt, jacket, tshirt) that says Disneyland somebody usually comments. "Omg I love Disneyland!" I always want to ask them if they Dis too....

I think we're just a bunch of nerdy geeks. I know I am. :yay: :teacher:

HAHAHAH.. That's the same way I feel when I start talking to friends or guest that go to my work. :goodvibes I don't post too often but I got my fiancee hooked as well as family and cousins hahah.. DISBOARDS RULE!!!!:lmao:

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! Pretty much no one understands...not even my best friends. I'm DISboard nerd...the one who tries not to be too mean when a month after I hear about something on the DISboards, someone is sooo proud to tell me because they think I don't know about it yet (like my mom!).

Maybe I'll just start wearing my lime green mickey head everywhere...haha.

"So, do you do any planning online? Message boards or other websites?"

That's how I've asked. :)

When I was a Newbie DIS'er, I tried to spread the word but disney lovers would just Stare. Most wouldn't even take the web addy. So, now, I just DIS here with the hard core!

When the topic comes up I'll just say that I go to a message board online about Disneyland and it is really great for planning trips and asking questions. I figure if the person I was talking to was interested they would ask more about it.

I was at the dentist office a few years ago (Kansas City, MO) and had one of the kids in the stroller. A stroller that still had LGMH on it!! And sure enough, some asked if I was on the disboards!! So the Mickey heads arent just for the parks!!

My 'regular,' non-Disney friends (meaning the ones who think they love Disneyland as much as I do but really don't) get sick of hearing about my "Disney message board," and "I read on the Disney message board..." (even though many of the tips I have learned here are things that have benefited them on our trips). Occasionally, one or two of them will attempt to jump onto the DLR bandwagon and prove their DLR devotion and get an AP or buy a piece of merchandise or something, but they still don't LOVE DLR and Mickey and much as I do!!:snooty:

Anyway, I have been out and about in the real world before, running errands, and wearing certain Mickey shirts or carrying a Mickey purse - sometimes at the same time - and occasionally, people will comment and say they love Mickey. In fact, when it rained at DLR recently and I was carrying around my Mouse of 1000 Faces umbrella (which I bought back in the '90s), even a few Cast Members I encountered were asking me about where I got it!!:lmao: Any question about anything Disney-related opens a can of worms. It's all I can do to bite my tongue and not begin extolling the virtues of the DISboards to them!!!

Now, if anyone sees my Mickey shirts or purses and comments on them in the future, I am going to wonder if the person who asked is a secret, undercover DISboard member!!:goodvibes

My best friend for 12 yrs goes to DLR every year because her husband has a conference there. Yesterday I was asking her questions about how to handle DLR. I thought they always go in March so I wanted to know about crowds, touring etc. She said they actually normally go in January when it's not crowded at all and that she is not 'into the Disney planning as much as I am' and they just ride whatever is closest. She laughed when she found out that I already knew the operating hours. :confused3 Yikes, for a commando person like me....it would make me crazy. Well now I find out that they are going to be there the same week as me, can you believe I am dreading it? My husband goes around telling everyone that they need to listen to my plans because I read 'those boards' all the time.....

Yeah, I've come to realize that some people just don't get it. DS has a home health nurse who helps me take care of him and I'm with her all day 5 days a week so I try not to bombard her with Disney info and facts but sometimes it's hard not to tell someone about something new that I heard and she's usually the closest person! She probably cringes when I bring up the subject. :rotfl: She doesn't understand why we would want to have APs and she thinks 2 days in a row at DLR is just crazy. I think she is also under the misconception that DLR is just for kids.

I've tried to tell relatives, co-workers, customers, I had a customer tell me he went to the board and likes it, that's all. Yeah I have to accept that not everyone is on the internet 2-3 hrs a day either...

I was trying to talk to husband about what to do with the cats when we were gone (specifically) and what to do on our first day last night and he was just like we'll do what we want when we get there. Noooooooooo.:confused3

I do!!! LOL My LGMH actually says "I DIS, do YOU?" LOL Yes, I am a dork but I gotta tell you I've learned so much from everyone here that DBF now says "did you ask on the Dis about xxxx?" LOL I'm so happy I found you guys...not to mention I've made some of the neatest friends here! :)

I am kinda a closet Diser. Disers are the only ones who share my love for planning a DL trip. Everyone else looks at me like I am a nerd. When I first discovered the board, my DH thought that I was being silly. After the trip & all the little things that I told him about. (I learned soooo much info on everything! Thanks Everyone!) (How to collect & then use the fast passes especially) He was sold on the Disboards. He cannot wait for what I have planned for us for April! (He told me that he does not care what I plan, the more the better.:scratchin )

It's sooooo funny because in my town I am know as the Disney Planning queen lol. Since we have been 5 times (soon to be 6) in 3 years everyone always asks me questions. Then when I can give them an answer they are like how do you know that. Oh it was on my Disney message board. Really they have those. So then I go into telling them about Disboards. I even ran into a fellow Diser a couple of years ago in a local McDonalds. I was talking to my boys about Disneyland and at that time we were planning a Disney Cruise and she over heard us and we started chatting. I said something about Disboards and she goes I'm on there too so we've PM'd once but thats it. It was neat to meet her though.

2-3 hours....:rolleyes1 :cool2: :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

I'm closeted in my real life too. I have to, or my friends make fun of me. :( I discovered that while planning our wedding...the wedding I had no dreams for, just wanted to go to Vegas for, but had to plan a big poofy thing b/c it was hubby's dream BUT he had almost no input into it. (grr) I needed to use message boards b/c my friends were married in their 20s while their parents still had a firm hold on what happened when, and I was all on my own with no ideas. Message boards got me through! And then when he and I had problems and my IRL friends were urging me to kick him to the curb, my internet people (some of whom became real life friends, at least for awhile) helped me work it through non-judgmentally but with so many good questions and concerns.

So my non-cyber friends aren't of much help with what problems/needs I do have, therefore it's the cyber world for me! And that goes for Disney trips, too.

I just don't talk about it much with them.

You never know when you will meet another Disboard'er. My daughter and "Kelmac"s younger two daughters were on the same soccer team when we discovered we were both Dis members.

On my first visit to WDW,
I mentioned to DH "there is a drink station with coke products from around the world"
The lady sitting at the next table (Sunshine Seasons)
asked very nicely "Excuse me, but how do you know that?"

I had to out myself "I am a geek & I read it on an online board"

We chatted with her and her two teen boys.
They were there for a triathalon. Sounded very cool.
A very nice family.

It was a magic moment.
I spilled my guts. All the valuable info I could think of.
Get FP for TSM & Soarin' first thing or they run out.

My hubby gave me one of those
"you so totally rock" smiles.

I hope it made up for me starting every sentence with
"Everyone says..." :rolleyes1
