I am so torn about which resort to stay at. I originally had my heart set on CBR, but am now seriously considering the POFQ. My children are 2.5, 5, 8--we will be using Disney transportation, doing all 4 parks, one water park and one free day. The kids love slides at the pools, but my 2 little ones probably wouldn't be able to do really big ones (I think I saw one at the CSR that looked long). I originally wanted CBR for the beach theme. Is it the Port Orleans RQ that has the dragon slide? I stayed at that hotel when it was just Port Orleans about five years ago before they renovated (Dixie Landing was still open). I just saw pictures of POR pools and they do look very cool. I have read here that CBR is spread out and POFQ is compact.

Comparing the two, what would you do????

I would recommend POFQ (this is where the dragon slide is located). It is small, has boat to downtown Disney, and you have access to restaurant and services of PO-Riverside as well.

I agree with the POFQ choice. I think your kids are the perfect age for the cool dragon slide at the pool. We were there last May with kids that were 5 & 7 and they both absolutely loved that pool! The resort is so small and easy to get around too, there is really no bad location in my opinion. Have fun.

I am staying at POFQ in May but stayed once at CBR and I felt like it was a huge resort but it had a cool pool area. I had the choice of POFQ and CBR when i booked this trip but because POFQ was more compact and the fact that you would be allowed to use POR's pool as well I chose to stay at POFQ!

Hope that helps!

I'll throw in another vote for the POFQ. With three young kids, the compact resort will be a big plus. Some of the rooms at the CBR can be a hike to the food court and the main pool (we stayed in Trindad South, and it was a good 15 minute walk to the food court). At the POFQ, even the most remote rooms are only five minutes from the food court, bus stop, and pool.

We love PO-FQ. It is the best value on WDW property to us. They also have recently rnnovated their rooms and look great. The landscaping and compactness of this resort will always keep us coming back.

My vote would also go to POFQ. My DDs loved the slide there when they were younger. If you feel comfortable doing it, your younger child could go down the slide there, and you could catch him/her at the bottom. Or you could go down with your younger child.
The slide at CBR is short and goes into 5 feet of water, you would not be able to wait at the bottom there. Here is a photo of it: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/cbr115.jpg
And here's a photo of POFQ's:

It's unanimous go with POFQ. The kids will love the theming of the resort. The boat to DTD is an added plus along with being able to use the facilities at POR.

I've stayed at both and would choose POFQ.

Enjoy!

POFQ - Your kids will love the pool area. You can also go use the pool at POR so that is a plus. You'll love the smaller resort to navigate with the kids.

Gotta go with POFQ. I totally agree with the pool comments. I would add that there are a lot of very nice open grassy areas to play. The nice thing is that it is not the burmuda grass, but the soft, small blade grass I'm used to in the Northeast. It might be nice for them to run around to expend some energy. Also, the small "streets" that wind through the property would be good for night-time strolls while enjoying ice cream cones from Floatworks.

It's still unanimous! I've stayed at both and prefer POFQ. I think your kids will love the pool and the resort is so easy to navigate. The food court never seemed as crowded to me either, another plus. Not to mention those beignets!

One more thing...It seems like the slide at POR may be more up my son's ally and the dragon one at POFQ will be better for my 5 and 2.5 yr old. I know you all said the resorts are close. Can you tell me about how close the pools are from one another?

The Boat to DTD makes POR and POFQ the best Moderate as far as I am concerned. The pools are a walk, we actually walked to POFQ last spring break because POR pool had a filter problem and they had to fix it. We really enjoyed both, I felt like POR was more spread out and maybe harder for parents to watch their kids at. Also POFQ is not as crowded of a pool. We love them both

I don't know how I found this thread, but it was helpful. I was having the same decision to make. looks like POFQ is in the lead for me. Thanks OP for asking the question.

I have stayed at POFQ and CBR (as well as CSR). The children and love this resort! We thought the pool is sooo cool! The went down the slide and my daughter...not stop... I knew that this resort was for her as well as for her brother. This place is very pretty. Very quaint. I love strolling down the cute little streets with the wrought iron posts and the street signs. This is great for any families with small children.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the moderates. CBR is our favorite. We like the theming and landscaping better. I have stayed at POR, CSR, and CBR.
