So torn about Hollywood Studios

If it wasn't for Star Wars stuff, we would skip the park completely. Went once 17 years ago: rode ST (I think) and ToT, saw Indy, Muppets, BatB, and Fantasmic, and were kind of "meh" about the park overall.
This time I want to ride GMR (closed before we could ride last time), see Indy again, visit Launch Bay, meet Kylo and Chewie, and watch Symphony in the Stars. Might catch the Muppets too.

Only went to HS once as a kid (mostly went to MK and EP then) so only was there once during the "real studio" era. But it was cool. MMC wasn't filming that day but did everything else I wanted. Started going back 6 years ago, was cool until later '14 when they started closing attractions. I think we're done with it for a long time (went in December for one last time before the construction)

I'm looking forward to the changes that are coming, and my kids are ecstatic about what will be there after the expansions

I remember the days of watching Mickey Mouse Club there. My sister even got to be on it! I loved the backlot tour. But looking forward to see the new land since my son is a huge Star Wars fan. I'm so glad I got the pin code for the free park hopper when we go in July!!

Can someone please tell me where in the heck I can "post" a new post on this board. I am such a "retard." I know that is not politically correct, but that is how it feels. I can never find where to post.

So I am tacking this news on the tail end here...

I got a notice on My Disney Experience yesterday saying a change had been made to my fastpass selection. To go to my itinerary. Well, heeelllllo:worship:, my Toy Story Mania fastpass at 12 something had been changed to Rock N Roller coaster at 10 something.

I called Disney and was really ticked.

I told the CM they should go about notifying in a different manner. With an explanation maybe. That would be nice. She did not offer up much info. Just said the ride was down that day.

I guess that is all she could say after all.

I felt like such a fool when I later ran across an email from Disney Destinations with the following info:

{We're sorry, your previously confirmed FastPass+ selection for Toy Story Midway Mania! from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM on 03/15/2016 is no longer available due to an unexpected change in the operating schedule.

As a replacement, we have made a new selection for you at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith from 10:20 AM to 11:20 AM on 03/15/2016}

Okay, so they did explain. I don't know why the girl did not tell me to check my email. I just happened to be on My Disney Experience when it all went down and was blown away.

Oh well. I could try changing our my HS day, but we are going on a night where they stay open a little later, so hate to mess with it.

No way in heck am I riding Rock N Roller coaster. Changed it to Beauty and the Beast stage show.

Big Bummer. Wondered how many of you had gotten the same notice and what ride they switched you to? Something tells me this spring break is gonna be a bumpy ride all around.:car:

Wanted to post about this, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a new post. HELP!:tiptoe:

BTW, I just traded a full Epcot day for a full AK day. Am I nuts????? It was the easiest thing to swap around fastpass wise.

We are leaving in less than a month.

I was really skeptical about HS. Now I am really not happy........

I remember when it was MGM and we rode Tower of Terror over and over again as a kid. I'm fine as long as they keep ToT there ;)
It is sad to see lots of things go away there though but I'm always excited to see new things as well...

They're closing Toy Story Mania on March 15th to add the 3rd track. So bummed that it will be closed until the summer.

No Soarin, no Toy Story Mania, etc, etc, etc...

It's only closed March 15th, will reopen next day. Several sources have confirmed this (I panicked when I thought it was closed until summer, since we will be there the 18th)

Are you sure about that? I read it would be closed for the summer

I just read that Toy Story Mania is closing... Was it closed today or a notice saying it was going to
close?

Josh has confirmed one day only on his boards, wdw Magic has fixed their post so it's not as confusing, and a couple others called and confirmed. So while I wouldn't bet money on it, because well, Disney, but I'm as sure as I can be today :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! I'm in WDW and spent the day at HS with my boyfriend. Growing up, HS was always my favorite park. It still is because of the nostalgia but some of it makes me so sad! So many parts are already closed off for the new construction and there is already a different feel to some parts. We still had an awesome day, but it was sad for me to see some of the changes. What really upset me is that One Man's Dream wasn't even showing the movie about Walt!! It was showing a preview for the new movie Zootopia. I know there's a chance this attraction might go with the new lands being built but it really is so upsetting for me because I love to hear about Walt and learn about him and the history of Disney. I really hope they don't close this attraction. Our waiter at Sci-Fi told us that they are also getting rid of the Streets of America and Lights, Motors, Action to make room for the new lands. I know change can be good but I long for the old days when you could hang out in the Animation Building and learn about the history of Disney!

All in all, I do still love HS and I'm sure these changes will be awesome but it's like seeing a part of my childhood end! I know HS isn't getting a ton of love on the boards lately, but I still feel loyal to it lol

When will all the new stuff be done anyway?
I THINK "What really upset me is that One Man's Dream wasn't even showing the movie about Walt!! It was showing a preview for the new movie Zootopia." is truly disturbing and reflects some of what is going on with Disney lately. Kind of like how they took away Mickey and Minnie's house when they took away Toontown Fair at Magic Kingdom. There is something really wrong with this! It is as if they are forgetting the man and the mouse who started it all and just getting greedy with Stars Wars. We are doing a day at HS on our upoming spring break trip. I hope I will not be too shocked. Unlike you, I was not a huge fan of HS. Then when my youngest daughter got a little older, she began riding ToT and it became one of her favorites. We are having lunch at Sci Fi as that is something she always wanted to do. I think I heard they will be getting rid of that as well. So, I think a lot of this visit to HS will be a sort of farewell tour. Just got an email from Disney Destinations letting me no that Toy Story Mania will be down all day when we are there.

They replaced my fastpass, and when I called they said it would not be running that day. Not sure about other days.

I have my fingers crossed that it will be up and running at some point during our day there. I hate the standby line for that ride. Mr. Potato head going on and on can drive you insane, but if standby turned out to be my only chance of riding I might torture myself. I did not want to change my whole day at HS to another park.

So wish us luck....

Of all the changes this year, not having One Man's Dream or the Animation classes are two that upset me the most.
I was bothered by what happened to the Animation area too!

We had a young friend with us that is quite and artist and I thought it would have been so much fun for her to do the drawing part.

Instead we waited in a too long line to see Baymax and meet Mickey.

The animation classes used to be awesome and educational.

The same with One Man's Dream. Educational!!!!!!!! My daughter is a huge Disney fan and she just eats up all the information.

I am afraid it is going to be too much Star Wars. I am not anti-Star Wars, but not a big fan either, so all of that will not mean much to me.

I guess I am the minority.

To me Disney and Star Wars don't go together.

We were just there a couple weeks ago.

Really enjoyed it.

Did Toy Story at opening so no wait.

Then moved to Star Wars area -- kids liked the Troopers patrolling the area. The wait for Chewbacca and Darth Vadar (at that time) wasn't bad at all. Some cool items as well in the exhibit and the short movie was good.

Off to the Great Movie ride which was ok since we had not done that in years. Certainly dated, but still entertaining.

Kids and Mom enjoyed the Frozen show.

Tower of Terror and RnR coaster were great as always.

Star Wars ride updates are pretty good -- ride seems shorter, but still well done.

Because of rain, the Indiana Jones show was shortened and Fantasmic show was cancelled, which was a bummer.

Muppet movie was good as always.

Lights, Motor Action show was really good.

And the Star Wars theme fireworks were pretty good -- basically just fireworks with Star Wars music -- but still good. The new show in April should really be outstanding.

I was at HS with a school group last week. That was our performance day at Disney Springs so we really only had about 9 hours in the park. It was plenty. All the students reported that with select Fast Passes they got to do all they wanted, and we all saw the second show of Fantasmic, and there was plenty of room at the 9pm show that evening. (the 7pm show was standing room only that night). This was my first time at HS studios, and I thought it was great, I loved all the old style theming, and Sunset Bvld especially. With planning our next trip, I think the day we go to HS will be a 1/2 in park kind of day, with maybe heading out there for Dinner and to catch the fireworks/Fantasmic show. Especially since my family doesn't really ride thrill rides.
