To summarize that thread, though, there's basically no rhyme nor reason for what you get with the magic. No matter where you use it, it seems to be completely random what you get.

Well when I got mine on new years, I walked around my guest room and got sorcerer ears, so I think that the place has to be somewhere that you can walk, so I think if you just place non walk-on objects in your guest room and leave a small space to walk in, then use the magic, you should get it to work pretty much no matter what... however I don't know what other prizes are...

I always do this:

Watch someone use it and get nothing, and then use yours right behind them. It ALWAYS works - I ALWAYS get something when I see someone get nothing in the same room
