Thanks to some kind people over on the points board, I found out I can cash in MyPoints.
I can either put them to a webcertificate or buy Disney Dollars. What would you do? And if I go Disney Dollars (which I am sure I will get some) what do you use them for?

Thanks so much!

You can use Disney Dollars towards the purchase of anything that you want in the entire WDW!!! Food, lodging, tickets, souveniers, activities - ANYTHING.

If you get a webcertificate - then you can use it towards the purchase of WDW tickets or towards your room.

I do MyPoints. I have put them all into webcertificates. Where can you get the Disney Dollars?

Cashing in MyPoints for Disney Dollars

Webcertificates
I redeem MyPoints points exclusively for Webcertificates. I then use my Webcertificate card (like a Mastercard or Visa) to purchase Disney Dollars from TDS. Others have had luck printing out their WC # and using it like a credit card by having the CM punch the numbers in by hand.

HTH!

Thanks Rachel!

I think that I would rather use my webcertificates to buy something on line to save the $$ that it costs to get a plastic card (I would be too backward to ask someone to punch in some numbers.)

That is why I will probably use my WC towards purchasing WDW passes on line...someday.

:)

RACHEL,

How do you buy Disney Dollars with Mypoints? I didn't know we could and I'm getting ready to cash out again.

I havent yet... but this is what was passed on to me :D

I don't understand that board can you explain to me, sorry

thanks

Hi everyone,

What's MyPoints and Webcertificates? I was browsing around and I found this thread talking about it (cashing in for Disney Dollars or to purchase Disney tickets?)

Sounds interesting...how do I join?:teeth: Any catches?

Thanks!

CHECK OUT THE REWARDS PROGRAMS BOARD HERE...all the points programs are explained.

QJ411,
MyPoints is a rewards program that offers you points for visiting websites, reading emails, signing up for various programs (like Connections123) and making online purchases. You can then exchange your accumulated points for any of their many rewards. One of those rewards is Webcertificates.

Webcertificates are online gift certificates that are the same as money. When you are rewarded a Webbie (or WC) from a program you can deposit it into your Webcertificate account. All Webbies from a variety of rewards programs can be deposited to the same account, making them very worthwhile. Your webbie account can be used online or on the phone just like a prepaid MasterCard. You can also get (for $6.95) a plastic WC MasterCard for your account which can then be used at B&M stores anywhere that MasterCard is honored.

You can get more info on rewards programs, MyPoints and Webcertificates by visiting the Disney Rewards Boards here on the Disboards. It's listed under the Just for Fun category.

Thanks Mad4TheMouse & BeansMom,

I just joined Mypoints.com and I see it's gonna take me a while to collect those points, but better late than never!!! I hope I can collect enough points to help w/ the WDW trips!!! :p

Thanks again!!!

I just recently joined MyPoints, and I have a question --
When you redeem your MyPoints for WebCertificates, if you want to use the plastic card for brick & mortar stores, do you have to pay $6.95 for each individual certificate, or do you buy just one that is reusable for any certificates that you deposit to your account?
In other words, if I bought three $25 WebCertificates, would I be able to pay $6.95 and use the same card for the total $75 in my account, or would I have to pay $6.95 x 3 = $20.85 to buy three separate cards?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi Svenson!

As I understand it, your plastic card will work as a declining balance card and will be good for as long as you have $$ in your WC acccount. I think that you only $6.95 once.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

:)

Thanks, BethR!
I hope you're right. $6.95 isn't so bad, if you are paying it only once. I would always try to keep a little bit in my account if that's how it works. But paying $6.95 for every certificate would be ridiculous -- it would make your $25 worth only $18.05 (that's a lot of reading and clicking down the drain!!!)

Anyone else who has tried this already?

Thanks!

Svenson,
I've had my plastic card since FreeRide was around. You only pay for it once. There is an expiration date on it, just like a regular credit card. When the date is up, you just call them and ask that another card be issued to ytou free of charge.

:D :D :D Awesome! Thanks for the info, mad4themouse! I think I will get a plastic card now. Then I won't be limited to just online purchases. . . and I can buy Disney Dollars easier whenever I happen by the Disney Store! Thanks!

Freeride.... now THOSE were the days. Whatever happened to that program?? I loved Freeride...

OK in simple terms what is this mypoints.com thing...I'm off to Disney in 1/2004...would like to make the best of it any way I can....please help!

jlp651,
MyPoints.com is a rewards program. You get rewarded in points for reading emails, trying out offers and making online purchases thru their shopping portal. They have the usual merchants that you might already be shopping at like JCPenney.com and Barnes&Noble.

You can exchange your points for various rewards like retaurant GCs and Webcertificates. The have Rainforest Café GCs that can be used in WDW as well as a number of other restaurants.

If you want more information about rewards programs, jump over to the Disney Rewards Forum

you will also receive offers via email...such as 1,000 points for the purchase of a fox movie. it's a great way to get a cheap movie and lots of points.

The points really add up fast...I've cashed out twice in the last 6 months for $30 of gas cards each time.
