As I have browsed the boards I see mention here or there about the popcorn, but it is always just references that everyone just seems to 'get.' Is the popcorn really that fabulous? A good value? Size? Heck...show me a pic if you have one! And where is the best place to pick some up? My hubby & kids love popcorn, so this might be just the type of tip I'm looking for. :cool1:

Wish I could explain it but yes... it's that good!! Maybe it's the magic of being in Disney and eating popcorn, who knows but it is usually the first snack we buy in the MK and HS and AK... not the only snack but usually the first and always a bucket!! :thumbsup2

I compare it to a hot dog or pretzel sold by the vendors in NYC. It just doesn't taste the same anywhere else. I always get some in Magic Kingdom to eat during the parade.

Put it this way, when we returned from Disney last year, we could not eat popcorn for a month because it tasted nasty to us:sad2: Disney's popcorn is so good. We bought one almost everyday of our trip:love:

I liked the popcorn and I don't eat it much - sticks in my throat. :sad2:

I wanted the popcorn buckets and the kids were quite happy to eat the popcorn. Talk about a win-win for us! :rotfl:

The popcorn is DELICIOUS! Plus, the little buckets are cool. As far as value, well anything at Disney is pricey. But I think it's worth it!

I think I saw somewhere that popcorn counts as a snack credit on the dining plan. Is that correct? I am assuming it's not the kind in a bucket b/c of cost, but the kind in a box maybe???! Didn't have any last time, but we may have to try it.

What is so special about the buckets?? (Yes, I am that clueless about all of this) And what is pricey?? $5...$10??? I only ask that because we live in Alaska & stuff is way expensive here so my perpsective is a tad different.....

Thanks guys :)

Yes, the box (which is the smaller) is a snack credit. It's delicious! Made the perfect midnight snack during extra magic hours last summer!

The popcorn was yummy. As for the bucket...I HAD to have it so I got it...now it is that item in my cabinet that always falls out and pops me on my head. :rotfl: Nothing like attacking popcorn buckets eh? :)

We get popcorn on every trip. At Christmas they had special holiday printed boxes. too cute!

It is Orvill Redenbacker popcorn. The best part for us is that my son can also eat it. It is dairy free. We always buy at least one bucket. They cost around 4.25 and the bucket makes a good souvenir. We have found that the cost can vary from park to park and also depending on season. On our last trip at Christmas time the price was lower at the begining of our trip than at the end when it went up to around 4.75. Not a bad deal though as they do fill them to the top. The buckets change throughout the year as well.

I've got to say... this thread made my day. :worship: Popcorn is my #1 snack food and Disney's popcorn is very tasty! My boyfriend pokes fun at me every time we're near a popcorn stand while we're there. I have a few buckets that I have brought back intending on making them into flower pots or something... yeah that never happened.

It's just reallyyyy good! And a great snack while you watch the parades :]

I love the Disney buckets! So easy to pop your microwave popcorn and pour into the bucket to eat. Used my Volunteer bucket last nite! Almost as good as eating popcorn at WDW!

:rotfl2: I go through the same thing with the buckets falling out of my cabinets also :lmao: and yes buckets because we get them every trip..oh these are so cute we can use them at home...have used them once in 4 years at the house..but anyway.. you do get quite a bit in the bucket.

I love the popcorn buckets, but my wife is not nearly as impressed with them as I am. Every trip to WDW I go to buy one, but she talks me out of it because,"We already have too many souvenirs to fit in our luggage as it is." I have gone on 3 WDW trips without bringing home a bucket. This past trip, we had a day left on our 8 day WDW tix when we got home, so we went to Disneyland. When I bought a popcorn bucket at Disneyland my wife had no reason to argue. Every time we make popcorn at home I make a big production out of using the bucket, and really love the thing. In fact, I just read this post to my wife before hitting the "submit reply" button, and she gave me the:sad2:face.

Love this!!! My husband is a huge popcorn eater, but he especially loves it at movies, sports events, etc. He is going to be in hog heaven at WDW. We have several buckets too....one we have from the premier of the first Lord of the Rings and we still use it all the time. He will jump at the chance to bring one (or a few) home with us!! popcorn::

Anybody care to share some pics of what their buckets look like?? I know...I am pathetic but I am sooooo stinking excited for this trip & this site is my only outlet since we are surprising the kids which means we can't talk about it at all in our house! Ugh!!
