I don't know how EXACTLY he managed it, but he has ruined his 2 week old PSP.

It got wet!! ARGH!

We dried it off as much as we could, and I held a blow dryer on it, but from a good distance to see if that would help.

Oh, well, there goes as we call it his "4th grade accomplishments gift."

Sorry-I'm just ready to spit nails and am trying to avoid him so as not to just start screaming at him at the top of my lungs. :furious:

Take the batteries out, leave the battery cover off and put it on a towel. Try it again tomorrow.

I dumped 32oz of water all over my laptop keyboard. Thought for sure it was a goner. 24 hours later it worked and still does.

Thanks. That's we're hoping for. I've got where the UMD's goes open, and the battery out and cover off.

I told him, I was gonna give it a couple of days, and still not working then I will get "angry". He knows I'm not happy, but what's yelling going to do? I could tell he had been crying before finally telling me about. And in a couple of days, I'll be MORE rational too.

Going to be a hard lesson on him, since it will never get replaced by me. We live on such a tight budget and this was a very unexpected purchase by me, but he really had a great year, worked hard and I wanted to reward him.

Going to be an expensive lesson on me.

My nephew might be able to work on it, he's in that type of work, but as long as it takes him to do things, we could not see it for a year. I have to understand he's a busy young man.

My son didnt get his wet but it did stop working two weeks ago. My DH called Sony and since it was bought less than a year ago and we had the receipt they gave us an address and we mailed it to them and 3 days later they UPS'd a new one. No matter what is wrong with it after the year you can send it back for a flat rate of $90 and they send another.

My kids have had accidents that upset me too but they are kids and it will always happen.

Ok, thank you so much, I will look into that too.

And on the accident, that's why I'm trying very hard to refrain myself.

Matter of fact, I quit typing this for a minute, cause he mentioned the PSP. I asked him, "let's give it a couple of days to see if it dries. It does you no good for me to get upset about right now, should it actually start working again." He thought that was more than fair.

Oh no! I feel your pain!

A few years ago, I bought DH a home theater system for Christmas. DS knocked over a drink and ruined it within hours of DH hooking it up to the TV. He felt so bad, but it was so hard not to yell at him for being so careless.

Here's a great big kaboom for ya:

Awww thats good  I remember I was upset too but it was nothing compared to how upset my son was with himself. Sony has always stood behind their products and I will never hesitate to buy them. They even paid the shipping! I will keep my fingers cossed that he wake up tomorrow and its working.:)

And after reading your other post, I decided too, if I can get it replaced by Sony, I'm not saying a word. Yeah, might be a bit mean, but let him "think" on it for awhile.

My sons Gameboy Advance fell out of the dryer last month. It had already been through the washing machine and a full cycle on the dryer. No idea why I didn't hear it banging around in there with all the jeans. It had been in his jeans pocket and I didn't notice when I put them in the washer.

I was sure it was a goner and was upset like you as it was not something I could replace in any way shape or form and his birthday isnt until November.

But a week later he decided to try and see if he could get it to work and sure enough it sure did.

So there IS hope!

The family I nanny for couldn't find one of their cordless phone handsets for several days. When it finally turned up it had been outside near the swingset, getting drenched by the sprinklers every morning. When they finally found it they were sure it would never work again - there was all sorts of condensation inside the handset. It slowly started to work again, each day it worked a little better. It is fine now.

You never can tell about things. I pulled a toy Barbie cell phone out of the dryer one day last week and it still worked. Good luck!

I couldn't believe it, I came home yesterday and the PSP was working again. But only while plugged in with the charger, so it appears the battery is fried. He now knows he has to save up the money to replace that, but it beats him having to buy a new PSP altogether.

this may sound odd, but I was reading a travel magazine and someone had a tip about when they got their digital camera wet, they put it in a bag of rice. it worked for them, not sure if it would work on a psp, but I thought it was interesting.

That is interesting. If something like that happens again, I might try that.

I know my Mom use to put a small amount of rice in our salt shakers.
