So since the new FP reservations, have you still been able to wing it?

In other words, go to the park and still manage to get to the rides you want WITHOUT reserving them ahead of time?? I've been slacking everything Disney lately!!!!:happytv:

Nope. Didn't like it at all. very disappointing being tied to my cell phone.

Yes, I managed to do it this week, actually. Even managed to ride SDMT stand-by with only a 30 minute wait. (Granted, that was later in the evening, and it was technically still in soft open)

Ok thanks. I just cannot stand the thought of even planning my rides now!!! I mean, I love my food so that's no problem....:lmao:

Yep. We obviously booked (and used) our allotted 3 FP+ but were able to accomplish everything else that we wanted.

Why not just randomly pick some times for the key rides and you can always skip them or reschedule them?

How soon can I book our FP's? Our trip starts on November 9 for 11 days ... Is it like dining where we can book the entire trip on the allotted day to start FP? Or how do they do it? I see it on MDE page but not when I can book. Is it 2 months out for FP from your arrival date?
So many questions of the exact some thing lol yikes!

YES!!! Actually thought it was tons easier knowing we had our top 3 locked, ambled around, rode everything, my favs multiple times, and only rarely used the rolling 4th. No gloom and doom here, sorry!:lmao:

You can start booking 60 days from arrival date. It's like dining so you can book 10 days out from your arrival date on the 60 day mark.

I've now been to Disney twice with FP+. I was definitely happy with having FP for my top picks walking into the park and not having to bounce all over getting FP like during past trips. Had those 3 but was able to just wing it the rest of the day and see and do everything i wanted to. My main complaint is the tier system. I hate it, and think all should be first come first serve. Because of the tiers, I struggle to find 3 FP in Epcot.

Honestly, I was surprised at our ability to add FP+s on the fly after we used up our pre-booked selections last week. I checked my phone to look at line times same as I would have done with old FP and didn't feel especially like my style was cramped.

That's just my experience, but I really do feel like if folks will relax and roll with it a little they won't be as upset as some folks set themselves up to be.

I found that I kinda only had to wing it. You only get three, so the rest of the day was pretty much let's go on whatever line is shortest. :dance3:

Yup. I usually only kept 1 out of the 3 original FP+ I'd scheduled in Feb. Changed the rest of them on the fly with no issues. Schedule them, and if you don't use them or want to change them, go for it.

Ditto for me.m we usually didn't schedule them until day of and would often change them on the fly.

Thank you so much, I thought 2 months out but I wasn't positive : ) 3 FP each day will be fine since my husband and I with no kiddos. But just to be clear so it 3 FP per day at each park or 3 FP total?

This exactly!! We were never FP people before and managed just fine. This time the FP+ gave us the security of knowing we would get to ride our favorites and still take our time getting around. We rode everything operating in all parks at least once and most things 2-4 times.
The only thing with the FP+ is make sure and try to schedule them all in the same area if you are going to do back to back ones so that way you are not zig zagging across the parks. Saves a ton of time that way!

Were you able to book a 4th FP from your phone & not at a kiosk?

3 FP per day. But after you use your 3, you can go to a kiosk to get a 4th at the same park or different park.

Ok thanks ... Appreciated : )

Thinking of these FP

MK - Mine train, splash mountain and ??
Epcot - Soarin, test track and ???
DHS - rockin roller coaste, toy story and ???
AK - Everest, rapids and ??

Any Ida for my last FP ????

Absolutely.

I had been reading months of backlash on here against MM+ and FP+, so I was prepared for stress.

Boy was I wrong! We stayed at SOG, so we didn't even get the luxury of planning our FP+ months in advance, but we certainly didn't have any trouble getting any FP we wanted even the day before.

There is no need to be tied to the phone, I don't understand that complaint. Unless you are checking the FP time or changing your selection, why do you need to be looking at your phone? It just seems self-imposed to me. Maybe someone who felt so tied to their phone could explain it to me better so I can understand. I just never felt it.

I feel like the new FP+ reservations let us "wing it" even more, to be honest. For example, in the Magic Kingdom, we had FastPasses for BTM or something on that side of the park. We had found that we spent most of our morning on that side of the park and were heading into the afternoon without having been over to Fantasy Land or Tomorrowland, so we took the train over to the new Fantasy Land. Around that time, our FP+ window opened up for BTM, but we were on the other side of the park and we really didn't feel like going all the way back over. Besides, we wanted to explore Tomorrowland a bit. A minute or two later, while we were getting our bearings and doing a bathroom break, I had gone into the app and switched our Fastpass around from BTM to SM, letting us walk right on to an attraction that we were next to on a whim. Isn't that the very definition of "Winging it?" That would not have been even conceivable under the old system, where we would be pretty well tied to the time and attraction on our piece of paper. Now, based on where we were in the park, we were able to swap around times and attractions in just a few seconds with no problem.

I think people are romanticizing the old system a bit. The idea of the FP legacy was just as restrictive as the new one...you were meant to be at a certain attraction at a certain time. Woe betide he who didn't run across the park at opening or while everyone else was eating lunch to hopefully get a piece of paper that fit in to your touring plan. This time, I got to pick my times. I got to pick my attractions. I didn't have to run all over tarnation for the first hour of park opening to get my passes. And if I didn't like what I had, or if our group found that we just weren't up to riding at the moment our window opened up, it took just a few seconds to get our bearings, change our minds, and make a new reservation. No running required.

I'm actually on a flight back from my trip.

Stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 6 days.

I woke up each morning decided on the fly which park I wanted to visit and booked fastpasses and we're able to get everything I wanted at reasonable times.

I park hop alot and also had no issues booking extras at other parks after my three were used in the morning.

I thought it may have been much more difficult but was pretty happy with how smoothly it all went for me.
