So sick after WDW trip!

I wonder if it's just due to being exposed to SO MANY people for an extended amount of time, plus the effects of having a supressed immune system from all the excitement/stress just causes some people to get hit big time with flu/colds.

We flew and I got sick right towards the end of our vacation. First the sore throat and then the stuffed-up nose, sneezing, etc. I have gotten sick before on vacation so I started taking vitamin c and zinc a couple weeks before we left in order to boost my immune system. It didn't do any good. I don't have allergies so I'm thinking with being in the parks touching doors, handles, and getting on rides, I must've then touched my face and got who-knows-what. I'm still trying to get rid of the cold. It's just about gone. I'm still congested but at least I'm not coughing all nite long keeping my DH awake.

I've never gotten sick after we've returned, but I've come down with the Flu (2001) and the common cold (2004) while I was still there. Either I brought it with me, or caught it from someone at WDW.

I had that same illness in April... it was going around down here in Florida, and likely had nothing at all to do with being at WDW. My parents who live in Virginia had it, as well, and they haven't been down here in about 9 months. Neither my husband or DD got it, though.

I picked up these hives I've been fighting for 2 years now. I swear they're a bug of some sort, but no medication or bloodwork has been able to fix or find it. *sigh*

I'm happy I'm not alone in this! WEll, not happy to hear how you all have been sick, too, but nice to know it's not just me.

My dad commutes across the U.S. every week for work, and is constantly sick. The doctor told him it is due to the planes he flies in.... The air is recirculated, so basically you share air -- and germs --- with the other hundred or so passengers with whom you share the plane.

So between the worldwide germfest at WDW and the plane, I guess one is bound to pick up a bug if their immunity isn't strong! I know that of all my family, my immunity was at its lowest... I had the least sleep the entire time we were there, and often didn't eat enough, simply because I was "too busy.". Next time I go, sleep and nutrition will be the priority! I've definitely learned my lesson.

Trip report is in the works, Allison! It is being written through watery eyes, coughs and sneezes, but it's coming. Thank goodness we have internet now... imagine if I were writing that thing on paper? What a germ pile those pages would be! Yuck. I best be going now... it's time to wipe down the keyboard with some disinfectant wipes. I've successfully just managed to gross myself out.

Sneeze.

Cough.

Wheeze.

On one trip DH and I both came home sick. I had a sinus infection and an ear infection whle DH had an ear infection. Last trip we both got an intestinal illness during the trip which we believe was due to food. Hopefully next time we will be healthy during the trip and after! I hope you feel better.
