bye everyone on this board...i'm cancelling our request for a membership. my guide never said that our membership was pending based on some information. so they are requesting a larger down payment...yes, due to our credit. alot of things have happened in the past and even though we have paid them off they still show as late/past due. even though we can afford it now i don't want to fork out any extra money since it was never even brought to my attention that it would be a problem. our guide told us we were approved.

i am so glad that i did not use any points to go on vacation yet. that would have been a disaster!

my suggestion to anyone is do not book or go on any trips until you get approved or they will keep your deposit.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with all my questions...sorry to have wasted your time. I've wasted that past 3-4 months doing all this research for nothing. Maybe they can hire me since I have so much knowledge and have customer service skills!

ok...so i'm a lil frustrated..but this won't stop me from going to the happiest place on earth. i think i need to go NOW...

oh that hurts...
so sorry!

can you get the credit services to clean up your credit report?

they are surpose to do it - if you have cleaned up everything.:grouphug::flower3:

Hang in there! You may be able to try again after you've had some time for things to drop off.

We had a similar situation but the credit department was extremely flexible and came up with alternate solutions..they also told us when we first called that more money down would be a possibility..but when credit called they suggested putting it only in my husbands name since most of our credit is in my name it made the debt to income ratio less and we didn't need extra down that way...if you didn't cancel already I would see if they could do this for you the membership number stayed the same and I am an associate on the account

Hugs to you. I am sorry you had to go through this. However, it may work out in the end. You could use this time to save up and maybe purchase in cash through resale.

Do not lose hope.

So sorry
Hope things will work out in the future and glad that you'll still be going to the Happiest Place on Earth :wizard:

Sorry to read your post; I hope it works out for you in the future. :flower3:

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with all my questions...sorry to have wasted your time.

I think everyone here likes helping or they wouldn't have answered your questions in the first place. So you didn't waste anyone's time. Besides, someone else may have similar questions that you helped to get answered.

I do feel bad for you, and I don't mean to sound cold, but...

It's time to pay the piper. If you messed up your credit in the past, than how can you possibly blame someone else? They are not denying your membership, they are simply asking for a larger down payment. That seems pretty reasonable to me for someone who is a credit risk.
If you want it bad enough, and you are certain you will make your payments, than you would pay the extra down payment. A high credit risk should have some extra skin in the game.

Just my opinion..

I would agree with this... I went through a rough spot a few years ago with a seperation/custody issue... everything is cleared up and has been for some time... But if it comes to more $$$ down, I know thats what it takes for them to assume me as a responsibility for my past... Things are better now and will keep looking up for me!

When you point the finger of blame at someone else... remember that 3 fingers point right back at yourself...

I'm not sure you have enough information to be this terse. And I don't think the OP was blaming them for wanting more for a "credit risk" as much as being given the green light by the guide and then finding out there never really was a green light. I for one have had my pay cut by 40% by my (soon to be former) employer over the last couple years because of the economy. I was lucky, I had enough reserve to fall back on, but otherwise, I couldn't have come close to paying my bills. There are people in much worse situations that may or may not be accountable for their situations. I know of people who lost their job and were out of work for over a year and blew through significant reserves. I have much empathy for many in this situation.

This is possibly a blessing in disguise. Use Rental to stay if you want with DVC; a much better deal than owning right now.

Or go and use all the great discounts Disney is offering to everyone.

With the condition of the rooms we have gotten lately, we may be very near to selling ours.

Good luck.

i am absolutely not blaming DVC for asking for more down...that I do understand about the credit risk and that I had made mistakes before. I am just upset that I was not given a heads up ahead of time. My guide made it sound like everything was all good. But according to Quality Assurance AND Credit Underwriting they both said that my guide should have told me because when they run the credit they know ahead of time if there is a possibility of needing more down or maybe not getting approved at all. If I had known that I would not have told my children that we will be going to Disneyland and staying on property. We had everything booked and planned. My guide even helped me book my reservation.

Well I do believe it is a blessing in disguise. I'll never know how much the MF will end up being in 50 years and if they keep reallocating and making everything higher i'd have to add points

Now another question...say I have find a resale for 25 points will DVC let me finance if I add on even though this time they wanted a higher down payment?

Thank you everyone for your support. I just don't understand why people are so critical when people admit their faults here. Its okay though...I'll take what I can get as long as it makes my kids happy. Some people just don't have the resources as some of you might. So when GOD came around and gave everyone wealth and health HE must have ran out when he got to me...

and please...i am not asking for your sympathy or sarcastic remarks..but thats the truth for some people...

I guess only they can answer that. I would ask for a supervisor and explain your experience before accepting an answer from a guide.

Good luck to you all.

Points cannot go up on "everything". I agree that some Members may need to adjust to reallocated points, but remember that some will also benefit.

If you don't think you can afford future fee increases, than its better you didn't buy in the first place.

I just don't understand why people are so critical when people admit their faults here.
That's probably me that you are referring to.
I'm not being critical, just being real. It's not enough to admit messing up (although that's the first step), unfortunately there's also some sort of penalty to pay. In your case that penalty is a larger down payment. That seems fair to me, but others may disagree.

So when GOD came around and gave everyone wealth and health HE must have ran out when he got to me...
God doesn't give anyone financial wealth...

I certainly am not blaming the OP for having a bad credit rating. After all, hard times can fall on anyone here.
My point is that we all need to have some personal responsibility. If a bad credit risk wants to purchase a luxury item on credit, they must expect some worse credit terms than those with good credit.

Certainly nothing against the OP.

the guide may have pulled ur preliminary credit score but when the full report came thru if any judgements, etc. it could've compromised DVC as lienholder, sorry to say.

any chance of booking onsite @ DLH via promo or AAA rate to keep the kids happy? We found a great rate end of last June into July, it's a lovely property.

resale is good option, adding on via cash even better...seriously it is! It might take a few years to accomplish & u might not have as many points as u want;), think of saving for it as an accelerated mortgage & you'll own the points free & clear...good luck.

I agree with the above statement. But OTOH, these guides should know to wait and refrain from telling a potential buyer "they're in" until ALL checks have been completed. They have to know the DVC protocol ? Sorry to the OP. I can imagine how much of a let down it's got to be. You do so much research. Hopefully in the future, becoming a Member will be a possibility for you all. Hugs to you

Im so sorry that you have come to this point...This was basically the same thing that happened to me two years ago...but I had the extra money on hand and paid the larger deposit...my only comment is to Maistre Gracey who made this statement....

who are you the credit police???sometimes ppl on the boards can get way to deep and judgemental...I hope you have a clean bill and have never mad one mistake in your life...dishing out that mess you had better be on your way to canonization...MOTHER THERESA

...at least though this thread is not as long as mine when I vented about the same issue...
