for the first time in my 40+ years I joined a gym and did my first session yesterday. In the past time has always been an issue for me as far as exercise is concerned, but DS has moved to a new swimming club and they train at a sports centre and they offered a special rate for the parents of the swim club members, so instead of watching 14hours + training a week some of the time I will be in the gym:cool1: :cool1:

Well done...when my foot is better i'm going to join a gym, although i think i will probably use the pool more.

Well done you! I am doing this at the moment too....we joined two weeks ago and I have been going before the school run. So I have MADE the time, and already I feel better for it.
Like your son I was a big swimmer at a young age swimming for my borough and then county, but as a teenager I gave up.....
Regular exercise is something I have sacrificed in the last five years since having my children, time and lack of local/family help was the issue.
DH had a horrible health scare in January and we decided we couldn't put it off any longer, our children are very healthy and active so why can't we be?
We want to set them an example too.....

We joined the gym in the new year and I must say while I will never enjoy it I can really feel and see the benefits.

Personally I really enjoy the classes rather than the actual gym stuff and we have found a great class called Bodypump which is good fun and great for toning - going to this once a week breaks up the monotony of going in the gym.

Are you lucky enough to have classes included in your gym membership? If so I suggest you give them a go - you may find one that really suits you.

Good luck

Tammy

That's brilliant, well done :thumbsup2

I took up running with a friend at Easter and definitely feel better for it. I've always walked everywhere so I'm fairly fit but the buzz you get when you've done some exercsie is really good.

We only go for 20-25 mins but try to go 3 times a week. It is hard with children adn other committments but when we make the effort it's worth it.

I think that's a fantastic idea going to the gym while your son trains. The Sports centre gets a :thumbsup2 for the idea.

Well done! I've just renewed my gym membership for the third year. DH thought I'd only last two months but I've proved him wrong. :rotfl:
