I am the Committe Chairman for the local cub scout pack and we are raising money for a new pinewood derby track. We did one of our fundraisers yesterday at the park selling marshmallow shooters and glow sticks during the celebration. These boys worked hard and were constantly walking around advertising and helping us to wait on customers and never complained about working on the holiday, and some of them were there all day. We even had a couple of the boys find change at the park and donate it to the pack. In total we raised almost $600 which is a little over a 1/4 of the total of the money we need for a new track.

The boys are so excited about getting a new track, the one we are currently using is over 40 years old, many of the dads raced on it as kids, and is down to 3 out of 4 lanes. Each year when we set it up we have to do more repairs on it and fill in more pits with wood putty.

You should be very proud of your Cub Scouts, they did a terrific job!!:thumbsup2

My son is now in college. He was a Cub Scout from 1st grade on. He earned his Eagle Scout badge in 2003 and was also very active in the OA, including being Lodge Chief.

I am in shock, though, at how much a Pinewood Derby track costs!:scared1:

Great Job!! I love the pine wood debys. I just organized one for 100 girl scouts in April. We have a great time. Can't wait until next years.

Congratulations to your Cub Scouts for working hard at earning their way to a new Pinewood Derby track! It's really exciting to race on the newer tracks, even though it seems like the old one has a lot of sentimentality~!
Tell them to keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

Great job! We just got a new metal Pinewood Derby track! It was AWESOME to use this year!!

Good for them! (And good for the committee having them take ownership in it- they're going to love that track after putting the work in to get it!)

I did have to LOL, my son crossed over 3 years ago, yet we have a PWD track in our garage. We borrowed it for DD's Girl Scout Powder Puff Derby and DH couldn't stand no one was maintaining it to his standards. This is the same man who rejoiced my last day as cubmaster/Web leader becasue it meant we got to clear so much cubbie stuff from the garage! :rotfl2:

I am PROUD of your SCOUTS as well, OP! That is hard work all day for the boys BUT they will now be able to get their NEW track!! Woo Hoo!! :goodvibes

My two sons are Eagle Scouts! This is a wonderful organization. I was the Charter Organizational Rep as well as a Committe Rep for our Troop for many years.

BSA RULES!!! :thumbsup2
