So PLEASE be honest, how is the FOOD at Chef Mickey's?

We've done dinner there once and breakfast several times. We weren't impressed with dinner, but we thought the breakfasts were very good. Basic breakfast foods were hot and fresh.

Wax food looks great in pictures. Posters in this thread called the meal edible and mediocre. Think Golden Corral quality.

Went to breakfast and dinner pre-COVID, I personally enjoyed the breakfast there better but I would still go for dinner especially on arrival night to officially start our vacation. I would go based on the characters.

Lots of people seem to like to criticize the food at Chef Mickeys, but I can honestly say we’ve been there for dinner many times (probably at least 20 times) starting in 1997, and we’ve always all enjoyed it with no issues. My son who was 1 when we first went and is now 25 still wants to go there when he is with us. And it’s not like we’re that easy to please; there are quite a few restaurants we avoid due to not being happy with the food quality (Rainforest snd Coral Reef for example) and places where we are not very impressed by the food but tolerate it for the atmosphere (Sci-Fi) but Chef Mickey is always a highlight for us.

I think a huge distinction needs to be made between people's feedback and opinions based on a visit when it was the original buffet (ie pre Covid) and those that have visited since it has changed to the family style format (post Covid closure). It's different food, and a vastly different experience.

i was thinking the exact same thing

we just did chef mickeys last month with 4 adults and 2 toddlers.
They weren’t serving buffet style when we went, it was a family style experience. the food was fine. It wasn’t the best meal ever, but it wasn’t aggressively bad. They brought the kids their own plates of corn dog nuggets, chicken nuggets and Mac & cheese, etc. adults got 3 salads, a big skillet of prime rib, turkey & veggies, then salmon and some additional sides.
It was plenty of food for the group, overpriced but tasted fine. Big plate of desserts too. The kids LOVED the entire thing.
