So October's a really busy month?

I know it's F&W and so the EPCOT resorts are busy, but I requested a 6 night stay at WL or SSR, and there were no studios available at either! I've only been a member for a year, so I'm still working through the busy seasons. But geez, I'm on a waitlist for January and I can't get anywhere in October. Guess a Christmas vacation is out of the question! :rotfl:

We are newer members too (about a year) and are learning these "busy" DVC seasons. October was a struggle, we have a combination of points/cash reservations. Surprisingly, just yesterday, we got mid-December reservations for a 1 BR with no problem -- get this, we were able to choose between VWL, BCV, and BWV. Go figure!

The DVC inventory at DVC resorts operates a nearly 100% of capacity throughout the year, when you account for units that are offline for maintenance and inbound II exchange guests. That's how timesharing works.

It's now July, and October is only 3 months away.

Many couples without children who stay during the F&W Festival -- and, for that matter, couples who attend anytime when school is in session -- are likely to want studio units rather than 1BR or 2BR units. After all, they don't need extra room for kids.

The DVC point structure, with its 5 seasons, is working well to create demand during traditionally slow periods.

We joined DVC in 2005, and were in the Member computers sometime in June. We already had a trip to WDW planned, and I tried to amend it to at least partially include a DVC stay. Only one DVC resort had enough days available for the time period we wanted to go, so that's where we stayed.

I'm really not surprised that you're finding no room at the inn.

I'm a newer member too, but I try to "work the system" for me!:) I got the 07-08 school calendar in Feb. and found we have a 4 day MLK weekend this year. It was about 3 days into my 11 month window, so I called and made a reservation at SSR for a 2br. About a month later called and added on another night(decided to take a flight out on Thursday) no problem.

Called at 7 months on the dot and was able to switch over to BCV! No waitlist and could have gotten BWV and VWL.

Had no problem for Thanksgiving, but once again I called at 11 months on the dot.

Alway use your home resort advantage and book at 11 months. If you want to stay at another resort, book at 7 months. There are only a few times out of the year when you can get a shorter notice reservation. And they don't fall from the end of Sept to the middle of Jan.
