I first heard about it a while ago but just read it on the rumors board and after checking my sources I thought I would let you know as well. My understanding is it is just this years that is not going to happen. I just can't believe that Disney didn't make money on these weekends. My guess is with the new movie and all they rights for this year might have been to high. That and it's the same time of year as when the movie is going to be released.

I guess they could change their minds...Just recently we heard from a CM in that area at MGM
that it was still planned...

I will see that CM in a few days, and see what has changed..
I agree that it would be a great moneymaker, and I can't see them letting that go.

Star Wars Celebration II is being held in early May in Indainapolis, I believe. If given the choice, this HUGE SW fan would go to that. I have never been to a SW weekend at MGM, but I hear they are fun. I would bet a lot of the stars are going to be at the celebration, though.

I had heard a rumor that cutting the Star Wars weekend might be one of their cost cuts for this year. Sounds like it might be true.

That's right, doombuggy. I'd heard about the SW Celebration II but forgot when it was scheduled. With that plus the premiere of the new movie, May will be a busy month anyway. Maybe MGM will reschedule the Star Wars weekends for another month?

Having been to Star Wars weekends last year I can tell you that a number of the stars had said they will be at Star Wars Celebration II in indianapolis. With that occuring the first weekend in May, Disney would not be able to get the stars/artists. Also the release of Attack of the Clones will be staggered around the world like Phantom Menace was so many of the stars will have obligations to attend premiers.
I hope Disney will have the event again in the future as I have attended several weekends each of the past two years. But I hope they pick a more comfortable time of the year if/when they reschedule. I will be in Indianapolis & was expecting to miss out on this years events anyway unless I could squeeze in a quick trip for the 3rd or last weekend.
