My charger on my laptop broke, so I bought a new one and it still didn't work.
Spoke to a bunch of computer people who said it's a problem with the laptop and it's beyond repair, time to buy a new one.

So I bought a new laptop, identical to the last, and out of curiosity tried the new charger from the new laptop, with the old laptop....yep perfect. Then I tried the other new charger (the one I bought that didn't work) with the new laptop....yep perfect there too.

So now I have TWO laptops, am several hundred pounds out of pocket and the big laptop man in the sky is having a good laugh at my expense!

Can't you just return the new laptop? Most stores here have a 14 day return policy on electronics.

I bought it second hand online so I thought I couldn't but I called and they said I could. So that's good news.

Make sure you wipe it clean before returning it. You know how they go on about identity fraud these days.

ugh me too.. mine would get power from the AC cord, bought a new one ($75!!) still no go.. took it in for repair, they say it's the motherboard going to cost almost as much as a comparable new laptop would... so I buy a new (upgraded) model instead.. I decided to have a techie guy I know at work take a look at the old one, he fixed it with a $10 part (it wasn't the motherboard but the internal plug were the ac cord goes)... I ended up giving the old one to my 10yo DS ! Go figure!

How about Ebay or placing a for sale sign at school?
