So NOW I get it, HHI lovers!

Forgot to mention a tip for those coming to HHI soon with young kids (especially if you are flying): There is a Dollar Tree next to the Publix in the Festival Center (on 278 about 8 miles or so before you get to the resort). We bought a bunch of $1.00 pool toys--water shooters, arm floaties, noodles, balls, goggles, buckets, etc. Super cheap and it saves having to pack them.

Hi DisneyDaddy: by chance are you Elizabeth's dad? If you are, I am Parker's mom and Parker was the "dropee" for the ice cream drop. What a hoot! Anyway, if you aren't the right dad, I still hope that you had a great trip!! :goodvibes

YES! How funny! Elizabeth has been talking about Parker nonstop and really sad that she had to leave so soon. :(

Hope to see you at a DVC resort soon!

Jean -
Thanks for all the pictures and updates!! We are getting so excited for our July 4th week at HHI!! I hope they have lots of activities on July 4th.
Enjoy!

We go to DHHIR for July 4 almost every year. Yes, they do have a lot of activities!

In the morning, there is usually a time to decorate bikes for the parade around the resort in the afternoon. (That's two right there, LOL!)

There are pool games at the beach house pool in the afternoon.

In the evening, there is a BBQ at the resort pool, followed by pool games and dancing. And don't forget that the Disney resort has one of the best views for the fireworks!

At least that's what there's been in years past. They may change it a little, but it will be great, whatever they do!

Jean - thanks for all those pictures!! The ice cream dropping contest took me right back to our trip last Aug. and all the silly contests they have for the Tues. night pool party - so much fun!!! 23 days and we will be checking-in at HHI!!!! Can't wait!

Disneyaholic - Thanks for the info. We were at HHI 5 years ago when our DD was only 1, so we didn't do a lot of the activities.....she will be almost 6 this year and is excited about all the fun stuff to do!!

Jean - the Dollar Tree is a great tip even if driving.....I hate to pack all that stuff. Enjoy your day today!

We check in TONIGHT - when we finally get there. Our flight from Indy to Jacksonville leaves at 7:20 - yipppeeee!

Love the ice cream drop - my dd Melissa 16 always does it and she has won the watermelon seed spitting contest two years in a row!!!! She will be the blond girl up with the cast members doing the line dances on Tuesday night!

We usually go to HHI in the winter months. Yesterday we drove over for business reasons and stopped off at the resort. I was very surprised at how busy things were there. There were CMs everywhere! When we go, there may be 4 or 5 total at the pool house area, and only Mike at the Beach house. Mike is a great guy, make him your friend.

Don't forget to come visit us over here in Savannah!

Another tip for those who will visit soon and may be first-timers: There is a nightly raffle. Sign up at the check-in desk. We won! Our prize (don't know if it's always the same) was a DVC bag filled with 4 DVC mesh bags, a DVC/Mickey magnetic notebook, 4 DVC lip balm with clips, a travel alarm/temp, 2 DVC stainless steel travel mugs, 2 lanyards. Here is DGNiece opening the loot:

Today was rainy in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon. It was a good break for sunburned skin. We spent the day checking out the malls. Tomorrow we hope to rent an umbrella and chairs at the beach.

It was raining in HH today...but the weather was very nice in Savannah! We drove over for the day and had big fun with the kids. They had a great time exploring your great city. We also made it to Ft. Pulaski. Seeing cannon balls embedded in the brick wall was my DS7's "best thing" of the day.

We capped the day off with dinner at "Fannies on the Beach" on Tybee Island. The food was average, but the view was spectacular!

We are leaving tomorrow morning. I'm so excited! Thanks for the raffle tip. Seems like the activities really keep you busy.
Thanks again for all the info.

I am sorry...I wish I could have warned you!

A much better place to go would have been the North Beach Grill across the street from the lighthouse. Not as good a view, but, much better food.

I am glad you got to go to Ft. Pulaski. Now THAT is an interesting place to go.

Conan- you are in a Grand Villa! You lucky- it looks amazing!!! I can't wait to try a GV at HHI for Thanksgiving.

Does anyone know how the weather is during April, we are thinking of going during Spring Break next year, but unsure on the weather. It will be mid- April. Also, does anyone know if there is a campground near there?

For those who aren't at HHI right now, enjoy some photos I took yesterday.

The following are from last year....there not that different, but, enjoy

Thanks! Those pictures made me so homesick. It's not fair that we have to wait almost 6 more months.

Although I've never been in mid-April, I have been several times in mid-March, and I find the weather VERY variable. One year it was sunny, in the mid to upper-70s, then the next year it was cold, rainy, windy, didn't get out of the upper 50s all week.

By mid-April, the weather is pretty consistently nice - temps in the 70s. Remember the Heritage Golf tournament is the week after the Masters' and the Island is always crowded then. Restaurants are very challenging. I can think of 2 campgrounds on the Island: http://www.hiltonheadharbor.com and the Outdoor Resort at Hilton Head (843) 785-7699. The second one looks really nice from the exterior.

Thanks for the pictures....it makes me want to go home and pull out the suitcases to start packing!!!!:rotfl:

We do have a GV, but, not until Christmas. We asked if we could see one so we could share some photos with the rest of the family. We're trying to build up excitement!
