Yeah exactly. I didn't even choose that day because of the price per se, I just figured midweek was less likely to be crowded. I don't think I've been to DL since they introduced the tier system so I didn't really think of how it influenced crowds.

In normal times, I did exactly the same thing - and usually the Tier 1 days were good choices. Things are just so extravagantly weird now in the non-AP era.

I'd make a suggestion, but I feel like my predictions this year were at least 50% wrong.

WHOA..... today was much busier than Monday which was busier than Sunday. I made sure to take some photos this time. The Soarin line goes behind the building into an area I've never seen... 50 mins they say. Monsters Inc had the entire back queue full... and some big E ticket rides like Incredicoaster and Indy and Space have had significant downtime. Rise of the Resistance went down just as we boarded the final segment of the ride but is back up now. We are back in our rooms wishing we had gone into the parks earlier this morning.

Saturday never came close to looking like this. I would have never thought a Tuesday would be heavier than a Saturday.

Yesterday was definitely the best "overall conditions" day we've had since the parks re-opened (not necessarily the "most magical day," but the best combo of park conditions for sure). I was there from rope drop at DL to the "park closing" announcement at DCA (left DL at 6, dropped the kiddo and my MIL off at home, and came back with my husband to DCA at 7).

I have rarely witnessed such low crowds. The crowd level we experienced absolutely rivaled the grand re-opening day (April 30) crowd situation, but with more open and longer hours. In fact, we waited longer for Indiana Jones on April 30 (35 minutes) than we did for anything yesterday. We walked by Pirates four times, from 9am to 5pm, and we NEVER saw a line outside the building. That is just... unheard of!

The temperature was also better than opening day (it was 92 then and about 84 yesterday). The food situation was great - no wait for morning Starbucks (!), mobile orders were immediate all day, we were able to walk into the Lamplight Lounge bar at 8:15pm - everything was just humming along! I'm also happy about the "masks required indoors but not outdoors" situation, which added to the perfect conditions as far as I'm concerned.

Honestly, I was kind of bummed that we'd bought the CA resident tickets when they announced the Magic Keys, but getting to experience a park day like yesterday made those tickets worth it.

Sounds so fun!!! Hope we get to experience a day like that too.

We were walked off of the ride after being buckled and waiting for it to start on Monday. We were walked to the second theater because of a malfunction. Speculating, but perhaps they were having issues with one of the theaters still yesterday?

We were at both parks Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. As others mentioned, there was definitely a build up of crowds as the week progressed. That said, many of yesterday's waits were over-estimated. Ex... Radiator Springs 45 min = 25 min, TSM 20 min = 10 min, BTM 30 min = 15 We are in the parks again today! Who knows what the crowds will be like!

I’m your worst nightmare. Buying a multi day to take advantage of the low crowds and then upgrading to a key.

We will be there all next week starting this Saturday. My guess is it will be empty until the 25th. But even then, I wouldn't expect it to be super crowded in the first couple of weeks of Magic Keys. I think it will build over the weeks to come. September and October will probably be pretty crowded with Keys and Halloween stuff. Can't wait for the weekend!

I hate the crowds caused by APs as much as anyone, but to blame people for taking advantage of bargain prices is silly. Disney owns all the blame for selling its product at a deep discount.

oh Im not blaming anybody...its 100% Disney fault for allowing to be the way it has been in the past.....Im just hoping that now since the keyholders will have a separate allotment of availability over the general public then they will be able to curtail how many people are in there at any given time....alot of people think that its not a big deal because many of them go for a few hours in one setting...however, if they realized how many people did that in one day alongside the general public and it being in a tiny space as DL is, that is what makes it so horrid...FP's helped that tremendously and now they are gone so I dont know how this is all going to wind up but we shall see

I think that’s exactly what they are going to do. If day ticket sales are high for a given day they will throttle AP reservations and vice versa. With the reservation system in place Disney can target and ideal capacity and effectively choose which type of visitor to allow in. Crowd levels at that point come down to how greedy Disney wants to be.

Disney certainly can throttle their capacity. I doubt they will for anything but the high vacation holiday season.

The new blackout dates do a pretty good job on filtering out the major spikes during out of town visitors influxes.

If bunches of folk go for the top level; look for maybe some throttling, but more likely a nice price spike in 2022.

Thanks! This will be our first trip back since it was shut down, so it will be nice just to be back. We've been to the parks at all kinds of times and have always enjoyed ourselves. We make the most of our time. This trip, my goal is just to ride ROTR once. If I've done that, it was a success! Everything else is bonus!
