So my kids can't wear shorts?

Not that we are opposed to pants-- it's just that my little boys have much nicer shorts outfits for dinner, as opposed to khakis or jeans. I find it a little weird that you can wear jeans, but not shorts. And I know that this is a subject of another thread. But I wanted to be sure that kids (ages 4 and 6) need to be in pants-- cause I will need to buy more summer-type pants before the stores put them away and take out the snowsuits!

We were on the Wonder this month and many men, including my DH, wore nice shorts to dinner. Not sports or cargo shorts, but nice khaki type with loafers and a hawaiian shirt. Didn't see one pair of jeans.

My DH did not wear shorts, but our DS's then age 3 & 10 did wear nice dress shorts at dinner excluding formal night when they wore pants/slacks. :)

DS age 9 wore nice shorts to dinner, with a button down shirt.
DS 15 did wear pants to dinner each night, as did DH, but both wore either button down shirts or polo shirts.

I say let them wear shorts.

Kids the ages of yours should be fine in shorts...don't stress about it!!!

First of all, the dress code in the dining rooms is "suggested," not enforced. Secondly, young kids can certainly wear shorts--and many will. Of course, young kids also wear shorts to church and many places where they wouldn't be appropriate for adults.

So, yes, your young children are very appropriate in shorts. Your husband or teens are not. However, should your husband choose to wear shorts to the dining rooms, he will be served and will not be insulted in any way.
