and says JOKINGLY...."do you want to buy into the Six Flags Vacation Club...it is really cheap." LOL

So our two older kids are dd 18 and ds 15. After about 3 hours they are bored. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Never would happen at Disney. So my dd keeps texting me on how she wants to be at home not at a lame theme park. Now they went for Fright Night and both aren't thrilled with it one bit. They are so spoiled by Disney...there is just no comparison to them. I guess when your dd has about 15 WDW trips under her belt....THE GIRL KNOWS WHAT SHE LIKES. :thumbsup2

I have yet to step foot into that Six Flags (and you know I'm about 20 minutes away) since we moved here. Too busy planning trips to WDW!

Give me another 5-6 years, Edk, my 2 kids will be the same way -- they think we should get FPs everywhere we go though! :lmao:

Well my younger son who is 9 and myself have never been. It is not in the best of locations really. My dh always goes with them. I am just a pure Disney snob I guess. :rotfl2:

I agree I do love the FP. It kills me to stand in line at Six Flags. We have one about 10 mins from us, so we get Seasons Passes and my kids really like it, but waiting in line sucks!!!

Well here at our Six Flags they have "FLASH PASS" LOL But it is a ticket you can use once at each ride I believe.

We're spoiled too. Went to Fright Fest at SFOT last night and hated standing in the lines. Flash Pass would have helped, but didn't want to spend the money. However, when the parks are busy, it's the only way we'll go. We went last summer for a company picnic and the lines were so long and it was so hot, we left without riding a single ride.

We have season passes and the only time we go is during off peak times.

I went to Six Flags this past Memorial Day weekend it was horrible my 5DH was ready to go in a matter of minutes....REALLY...I posted about this same thing in May.

I grew up going to Six Flags Over Texas, went to WDW in 1978, since
then I've been to Six Flags once and that was to take a friend.

We've only been to Six Flags two or three times since our first visit to WDW in 1986. Needless to say, WDW spoiled us and continues to spoil us...no comparison!

I happen to like "regular old amusement parks." Of the Six Flags parks, I've been to:

* Great America, outside of Chicago
* Discovery Kingdom, north of San Francisco
* Fiesta Texas, in San Antonio
* Enchanted Village, outside of Seattle
* America, outside of D. C.
* New England, in central Mass
* Great Escape, in upstate New York.

the only one that was truly a disappointment was Enchanted Village---and it happens to be one of the parks that SF sold a few years back. The gem of that set was easily Fiesta Texas. Some decent themeing, excellent shows, and a really nice collection of rides.

Are they Disney? No. Definitely a different experience. But, my family and I find them to still be plenty of fun.

I'm sure part of it is that we are so used to Six Flags but after going to WDW, I refuse to spend so much money on that dump.

We do like our local Six Flags park. We don't expect Disney quality stuff from them. We just expect a decent thrill park experience. And they do deliver that!

We're season pass holders there, and we go every weekend. We just made our final visit of the season today, the last operating day of the year for them. So sad...now we'll have to wait all the way to the last week of April before we can go again! :sad2:

WOW every weekend!!!!

Oh we could never compare WDW to any other them park...there is no comparison. PERIOD.

I went to six flags over texas when I was a kid. I remember it being a blast. We haven't been to our local six flags d/t it being an hour and 1/2 away and our Water Country is only 40 minutes - plus my Best friend from college lives near there - so we meet her there. We love regular amusement parks too. Anybody love Knotts Berry Farm? Is it still there?

We went to Hershey two yrs ago and loved it. I would love to visit Ohio? I forget the name of the park - anyone want to help me? My boys and I do a "road trip" every summer and would love to go there.

Along the same lines - I just don't go out of my way for 4th of July fireworks anymore. I'm so spoiled that non-Disney fireworks just don't cut it for me. My four your old nephew went to Disney for the first time in April with me and we went to fireworks almost every night as he loved Wishes. He actually turned to us on the 4th July at the town fireworks display and said "that's it, they're over - where's Tink." I just don't see the need to fight the crowds in town before and after fireworks for such a meager display when I could see fantastic fireworks almost every night I am at Disney, and this year that has been alot of nights:cool1:.

WOW every weekend!!!!

:) We're just there from 10:00 AM rope drop (er, actually "chain drop" in this case) and then for a few hours afterward. That gives us time to ride DW's favorite roller-coaster anywhere from one to four times, depending on how busy it is, have lunch out in the car, then go back into the park to stroll, ride the huge old wooden coaster, and perhaps catch another ride or two.

DW loves the thrill rides, and I like 'em fine, so it's been something we've been doing for the last two years. We've lived less than 15 minutes from the park since 1992, and before last year, we probably went less than half a dozen times. But then we went in 1996, and I saw how happy DW was riding those huge coasters. So I got us season passes in 2007, and it's been great ever since. :)

(At first, being a Disney guy, I was very dismissive of Six Flags. The peeling paint, swarms of teenagers, and general feeling of dilapidation aren't exactly endearing to me! But I've changed my attitude. They are what they are, and in some ways they do try -- particularly when it comes to landscaping. As for the rest, I've just learned to enjoy the good parts, accept what else I can, and avoid the remainder (like eating in our car rather than paying for their generally awful food).)

jblrn2b: Yep, Knott's is still there, but it has changed quite a bit over the last 10 years now that Cedar Fair owns it.

Ohio: you're either thinking of Cedar Point (most likely), or maybe Kings Island. Both are also Cedar Fair parks.
