So my 15 year old DS Halloween costume is.......

a Pot Head. He plans on putting a pot on his his head upside down,like a hat. Then after saying trick or treat, take it off and hold it out ot collect the candy in the pot...then dump it into his pillowcase. I told him it's right up there with holding his fingers in an L to his forehead and going as a loser.....DD always had such elaborate costumes that would take us weeks to make...actually DS too....guess he is growing out of it. Although the 4 page paper and 6 minute speech he has to do this weekend might have something to do with the time factor

I have to agree with you... As much as it may be funny I don't think I would let my child be in a drug related costume. BUT it sounds like this is not the kind of "POT" we are talking about... Sounds like a POT HEAD -- PLANT. At least that is what I gather, so sounds good to me. Have a safe and fun night!

I think it's pretty funny, especially if your DS is definitely NOT a pot-head. It would be different if he were wearing a Tshirt decorated with marijuana graffiti. Maybe he could stick a plant in his pocket*something that obviously does NOT look like MJ* Stick carrots in his ears.

Better than my then 15yo DS did. He went as a murderer, with a ripped Tshirt and fake blood on his face, shirt and hands. He was over 6 feet tall and he really looked horrible. I told him not to go, that at his age and with his size he looked quite intimidating. Well, he went anyway. He got his come-uppence though. The first house he went to he scared the lady so badly she screamed and threw the candy bowl at him before slamming the door. Even though he looked like an ax murderer, he did have a soft heart. He felt so awful it ruined the night for him. He came home and went straight to his room. I didn't even have to punish him--he beat himself up over it for a couple of weeks. and he NEVER did that again.

Oh my goodness, no candy for 15 yo kids who have the ingenuity to actually get a costume on? I might agree if they show up with no costume but if you've got a costume-you get candy from me. From 1 month to 100yo, costume begets candy.

wow. my friends and i used to dress up in costumes until we were seniors in high school and go out trick or treating in our neighborhood. come to think of it, almost all of the students in our class went trick or treating until they were seniors. the people in our neighborhood all knew us and were more than happy to give us candy (as long as we were in costumes).

I'd MUCH rather he be out trick ot treating than being a couch potato playing video games, and yes, you guys are correct that he is NOT druggie....very anti -anything non healthy that he puts into his body. I laughed when he tol me it, I thought it was clever too, but I told him SOME people would not think it was funny (some replies prove that theory right)
As far as age, I'll tell ya right now if we were at WDW and had MNSSHP tickets you bet your bippie my whole family would trick or treat there, so why should age matter here? With all the crazy going on in the world today, I am more than happy to hand out candy and smiles to anyone who comes to my house on Halloween.

Not something I would let my 15 year old dress up as - but I was also the mean mom who wouldn't let them dress as devils, werewolves, bloody monsters, etc... heck, they (he and his 14 year old brother) don't even get to watch rated "R" movies!

Seriously, people gripe all the time that kids today are growing up too fast , yet when same kids do something child related, then it turns to "oh they are too old for that" ...... poor teens can't win either way...give them a break people!

If they have a costume, give em candy! They ARE still kids!!
