So minor a question I'm almost embarrassed to ask!

Hi, all: This is the most minor of minor questions! But...someone will know and then I won't have to guess!

Do DVC rooms have the little toiletry sets (shampoos, soaps, etc) that one finds in the regular resort rooms?

It's certainly not a problem to bring that stuff from home (we're taking our first trip as DVC members in 2 1/2 weeks...can't wait!)...but it's a waste of space if it's provided...

Thanks!

Yes, but unless you pay for extra housekeeping you only get refills on T&T days (every 4th day)

You'll get soap, shampoo (not the best quality, though, so I bring my own). No lotion. But then, I've only gotten lotion at GF in all my stays.

In addition to the shampoo I always pack my own handsoap. Theirs smells like Ivory :sad2:

I have often requested and received additional soap and shampoo. We like to keep bar soap at the kitchen sink, too. We have never been charged. The last few trips we have only received 1 coffee and 1 Tide at check-in and again on T & T day. In the past there were often 2 or 3 coffee and sometimes an extra Tide.

Don't ever feel like a question is too small. Not every thread here has to be dozens of pages long! This is a great place to ask the small questions and get quick responses. I just wouldn't want you to hesitate to ask something thinking it should be obvious or easy to answer.

Good luck for a very magical first DVC trip!! :)

I am SO glad someone else is asking small but important questions that many of us newbies may have!! I am sure I will have lots, too!

Thanks-

Ellen and Brian

I wish I could get my wife to use the provided soap and shampoo. Instead half our luggage is filled with the salon approved stuff from home.... :sad2:

I have about 4 boxes of the individual size of the dove soap bars. I just throw a few in the suit case for each trip so we have a soap for each location. We also take shampoo and conditioner as my wife won't use theirs unless it's tope quality which Disney's is not. They Hyatt is about the only chain hotel we've stayed at that satisfies her as they have their own spa brand. We also stayed somewhere that had Bath & Body works but I forget where it was.

The Wyndham Palace (now the Buena Vista Palace) had B&BW toiletries in each room. That's how I got hooked on them.

I use Pantene and I find lots of hotels have Pantene in the room. But I won't use the Mickey shampoo. It's really nasty stuff.

We won't use them either. Have to have dial soap and the shampoo at Disney is toxic in my opinion.

It does work wonders if you need to clean a stain off the carpet though. :thumbsup2

Holiday Inn express has really nice tolietries also if you are traveling and wonderful breakfast. :cheer2:

Last time I stayed at a Hyatt it was Ginger. That was good.

The time before that (I never pack my own toiletries for a regular hotel) it was lavendar. I can't stand lavendar. Ended up buying my own.

I know they have several flavors but I think we've always gotten the ginger which we both love, esp the conditioner. It's a double plus for us since most places don't even supply conditioner, only conditioning shampoo if you want to call it that.

I would never use the Disney shampoo/conditioner, but DH loves it, so he gets that! I bring my own from home. As for the soaps at Disney, they seem to be nice and mild and not perfumed, which is very important for my allergies, so we DO use that. I really wish DVC would add lotion to the list of toiletries.

We're also newbie members, so please pardon us as we take the discussion to the next step (so to speak...)

What about toilet paper? This question is probably getting a little ridiculous, but knowing my wife, she'd pack so much of it we'd have to bring another suitcase if it's not provided....

Lots of toilet paper and tissues (extras are under the sink at OKW), but if you are unacustomed to rough paper with chunks of wood left in it, you might want to grab a roll and a box when you stop at the grocery store to shop for your villa kitchen. Actually, the paper towels provided in the kitchen are much better than the tissue in teh bathroom.
