Or maybe we're just getting all the bad stuff out of the way early so we can enjoy the rest of the year. :confused3

My most recent bit of bad news? DS11 hasn't been feeling well so I took him to the doctor yesterday. He has pneunomia. :sad2:

I'm worried about keeping him from getting worse and when DH called the school to let them he wouldn't be in this week they only had 1 thing to say, "When can you come in to get his work?" He's in 5th grade and may yet have to hospitalized. I am so NOT worried about missed school work.

Hopefully, this is the last of our bad news for the year.

Oh my gosh, pneumonia is like really really serious isn't it? I'm so sorry :guilty: I hope he is better soon..

I'm so sorry, Belle.

When we are going through a bad spell (our current one is on year 3), I try to think of those that have it worse than us. If you think, you can usually find someone in your circle of family, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, neighbors, that are in worse shape.

It doesn't take away the hardship that we're going through, but it does kind of put things in perspective.

Here's to a better remainder of 2011~

oh, btw...tell the idiot at school that your DS will get his work when he is well enough to return to school. If he's too sick to be in school, he's too sick to be doing schoolwork at home. duh!

Awww, I hope he feels better really soon. My ds had pneumonia over Christmas break and he didn't get off the couch for a week. I would've told the school where they could put his schoolwork:rolleyes1

I'm so sorry!.

I'm a senior in HS and was sick for a looong time this winter...mostly in the hospital. I didn't touch schoolwork once :thumbsup2. Don't even worry about it! It'll be there when he's healthy again.

Hope he doesn't need the hospital. One thing, when he coughs make him hold a pillow over his stomach and kinda lean over it a bit for support.

My daughter had it last year and cracked a rib coughing. That is actually how we found out what she had. She was coughing a lot and then started to complain about the pain. Took her to the doctor and got 2 pieces of bad news. Luckily hers was not serious..a z pack and lots of rest cleared the infection up.

:grouphug: Hoping he feels better quickly. My youngest had pneumonia last year and was okay shortly after with the help of antibiotics and her breathing treatments. It is quite scary.

As for the school, tell them to stick it as the homework is NOT that important right now. Your child needs to rest and let his body heal.

i had pneumonia a few years ago. i called my job to tell then i wasnt goingto be in because i had a 104 degree fever(i hadnt gone to the doc yet) and my boss asked if i was going to be in the next day. i ended up being out for 3 weeks

Thanks everyone. :goodvibes

The good news is that DS had an appointment today and his lungs sounded better. He's still not eating but he does like Propel Water and Ensure Plus so that's encouraging.

He goes back on Tuesday so no school until at least Wednesday.

I love our doctor. When I told her how the school responded she basically said to just forget about them. :thumbsup2
