What deck is your favorite (for your room) and why? Ive been on Dream (veranda) and I liked 8th but I want to see the ocean so no higher but I am curious as to others point of view.

Have you had high school aged children miss the last day of the high school year? If on that half day and it is a testing day do you take them or say bon voyage to them and just go on this awesome maiden voyage cruise?! (joking, I really want all of us to go)

What is one of your favorite traditions you and your family do on the ship?

What was your favorite photo or memory?

We like extended veranda cabins on deck 5 on Fantasy/Dream. We prefer forward rather than aft (which makes me motion sick.)

Our daughter has missed the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks but not last day. I don’t think much happens that day in most schools (unless you are a senior). It’s so school dependent. Our daughter graduates HS on 6/11/22, so no maiden voyage for us (and we have 20 sailings, so our chances would have been good).

We love so many things on DCL, I’m not sure we have specific traditions. We do always catch JackJack’s Diaper Dash! It’s hilarious. We always enjoy doing the animation night in Animators and try to have as creative a drawing as possible. My daughter and I always watch Maleficent and we all go see a few movies together. I think my daughter would say her tradition is to eat her body weight in soft serve. We also pride ourselves in being among the last to board the ship at the end of Castaway Cay day.

1. I've only been on one cruise and we were on the 2nd deck of the Fantasy. We'll also be doing 2nd deck next June for Alaska. I have us booked in Concierge for October - so I can't really say I have an opinion yet.

2. My son is in kindergarten right now, but he will be missing the last week of 1st grade for the Alaska cruise. I can't believe there would be testing on the last days of school - that was always wrapped up earlier, especially for seniors who had to send in grades.

3. No traditions yet.

4. I went to Mixology with my 2 SILs and then we met some of the family outside of Enchanted Garden for some reason. It wasn't crowded so it was sort of mid-day, but the three of us danced around in the lobby doing pirouettes, etc. while everyone laughed. We'd only had a *little* too much to drink!

1) We have been on Dream and Fantasy. We prefer deck 8, slightly aft, starboard (right) side. Close to aft stairs. Starboard to see Castaway Cay. We have been on 7,8,9 and 10. 8 seems to be a happy medium between Cabanas/Pool deck and main dining/atrium.

2) We have missed the last day due to vacations (not Disney) and the kids don't miss much. Just have to watch out for handing in final materials such as laptops and books and any last day awards ceremonies. And being in PA we have had to worry if snow days affect the last day and move it later causing us to miss the last week of school. Things being so virtual these days this may not be a factory any more.

3) Favorite traditions there are many: "Welcome the Mitura family" is one. Playing cards on a picnic bench at CC after lunch. Family foosball in Edge during all entry first day, Formal night pictures.

4) Favorite photo which I always tell: I was a wanna be runner and mid 2010's I decided to run the CC 5K. Stupid me, it was so humid, so hot! Even for December. But when the race was over there was Pluto waiting. He points to me then to the medal and I run over and get a 5K photo. The best photo ever! I have so many photos from 5Ks on some unknown road looking like I was going to die, but the one with Pluto and my plastic Disney medal is the best.

When you say it's a "testing day" -- do you mean final exams? School districts all plan their year-end slightly differently, so it may very well depend on your district. Where I am, the "last day of school" is basically an official date on the calendar for HS; depending on the exam schedule a student may or may not have an exam on that date. Most students end earlier than that last official day, which is generally a make-up day (if a student had to miss an exam earlier in the week or requested to reschedule). However, if the student has an exam scheduled on that day they would not be excused to start vacation early and may not be allowed to reschedule for a different date/time.

Good questions!
1. Our favorite stateroom is a vernadah closest to the pool deck, midships but far enough from the elevators to not hear all the hubbub there. The deck # is different for Magic/Wonder (8) and Dream/Fantasy (10). By going midships, we miss some (but not all) of the running to and fro up there at night; but it makes it very easy to pop up to quick serve food, the area formerly a buffet :D, and the adult areas. Also - coffee.

2. We actually had this problem on our Alaska cruise but for the beginning of school. We had booked our cruise ~2 years out and then the school district changed the start of school by 3 weeks so I got to engage the principal to explain why our 3 teens were going to miss the first 1.5 weeks of school. The principal was great about it and arrnaaged for make up times & tutoring.

3. Our favorite tradition when boarding is to get to the parking deck early, & claim a spot near the head of the line (in Port Canaveral the deck opens at ~9:45). I hold the spot with the luggage while my wife takes the kids to the top of the parking deck to get pictures with the ship in the background. We always get a picture with the kids in front of the Mickey ears. Then, off to Cabanas after which the kids mysteriously disappear to their clubs and my wife and I change to our swimsuits and enjoy the Florida sunshine

My favorite deck is usually between 5 and 8.

I liked deck 2 but during a storm the waves were crashing on the ship and while it was insanely beautiful to watch, it was also very noisy.

Congratulations on your daughters graduation! I will have to figure out what traditions you are talking about but I am so excited to find out!!! Yes, I am pretty sure if I lose a twin they will be at the soft serve. I like the last one off the boat tradition. There is something about that.

Okay, you make the 2nd deck really exciting. My family probably could not take it but I would be mesmerized by it. Im debating on learning how to pirouette. I need a good tradition like that though!

You kind describe my favorite room location to a tee. Thank you for the input on the school stuff. They will be Freshmen so no Senior then. I had an unexpected memory with Goofy where he grabbed my then 4 year old son and hugged him tight. It almost made me cry. I did snap a picture of it but there are so many great ones! Thanks for sharing your Pluto moment!! I want to run in the 5K, too!

Yes, exams. I am gambling. It their freshman year.... what to do. what to do! I need to think on this. Thank you for the input!

1. Priorities! I like it! Close to pool and coffee may win. 2. Nice and caring principal! 3. Mysteriously disappear to clubs sounds like the gif where Homer Simpson exits into the bushes. Now that mine are older I can see this happening!

We've only been on two Disney cruises so far and both times had a veranda room so when the young kids went to bed we could sit outside on the deck. I think it would be tough with just inside or Oceanview and young kids who go to bed early.

We love deck 9 on Fantasy.

Our son has 2 finals on his last day of school. It's his first year of high school, 9th grade. However, the finals end by 1:10pm. I was kind of surprised, but it wasn't an issue. We hadn't planned anything. He also has 2 finals on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. So, no skipping out for us. When I was in school, the last of day school was pretty worthless, and you didn't do much. When are they supposed to show each other their funny yearbook photos if they have finals for the last 4 days of school :confused3 He's not attending in person yet anyway though.

As for leaving kids behind, we are planning a big vacation for our 25th anniversary in 2 years, sans child. I want to go in April when we got married, but I just don't see it working. So, I think we will delay it until the summer and just have him stay with the grandparents for a few weeks as usual.
