Hi everyone!
I have a few really easy quick questions...

Our school's senior trip is coming up quickly (May 1-4) and this year we have a lot more physically complicated students then in previous years so we need much more equipment then normal we are hoping to rent it so we don't have to take it down with us and pay the baggage fees..

according to disney they have shower chairs for rent has any one used one that disney has or knows what kind they are or has pictures of what they are?

if we need to rent things we think we are going to use Care medical has any one had experience with them before? how reliable are they? our flight out is really early in the morning how early will they pick stuff up or can we store it at baggage service?

there are 17 kids going and enough chaperones to have 1:1 ratio so we breaking up into small groups... a few of the kids have issues in direct sunlight should we get GACs for those kids.. all those kids are in wheelchairs and generally we haven't needed to get GACs

Thanks
Jill

better than me, but I found out through this board that medical supplies are considered free to bring with the airlines. You just have to make sure the entire suitcase is just medical supplies. Even items like Depends and such are considered medical. Wheelchairs are the same way. If you are using Magical Express from the airport to the resort and back make sure all your bags have their special tags on them.

I haven't heard of Disney charging for medical equipment like shower chairs, but that may be something new, now. You do need to put in a special request for one in each room that you need them for, but I'm almost positive there's no charge.

There are Disney resort rooms where you can get a roll in shower which includes a sit down bench in it; so, you wouldn't need the shower chair. The problem with those rooms is they usually only have a king bed in them; so, the sleeping arrangements are difficult with a chaperone sleeping; unless, it's their parent, etc. You can get a cot in the room free of charge, but you have to arrange for this in advance. You might be able to still request a handicap accessible room and make a change if this can help. For toileting you may want rooms which have grab bars.

If you are using bus transportaion at Disney be aware there are only two spots per bus for wheelchairs and you are competing for those spots with scooters. There are a few buses that can service three at a time. In many instances there is a special line for the bus queue for wheelchairs.

In the parks be aware their are family restrooms which are more private and they are larger and this may help with the special needs people. Also, there are some special ride queues for wheelchairs. For shows there are only so many spots available for wheelchair; so, make sure you allow enough time and get there early for the shows. Parades have handicap areas for you to view them. The park maps (located near the entrance) show you the locations for them.

I'm sure others will give you more hints and reccommendations than me. God Bless and have a wonderful trip.
