Let's see if I can get this out without being too wordy (probably not -lol.)
I was very close to buying 360 BLT points in the next couple of weeks. With the current incentives, I can buy in at $96 a point; it also seems like these incentives aren't going to be around much longer, so I do need to make a decision fairly soon. And yes, I am signed up for the 6/10 webcast just in case it offers anything better than the current offer. I should also note that the Feb UY is just perfect for us as most of our stays would be for the last week of March, the summer months, or long fall weekends.
I love BLT and I can see us staying there for most of our visits. But I also can see us wanting a change of location and scenery every so often. The 2 other resorts that intrigue me the most are BCV & AKL - the latter specifically for the the club level units. I got to thinking that maybe I should just go for 200 BLT points and look for say, 100 point resales at BCV & AKL a little further down the line. One of my questions is this - can points be banked & borrowed concurrently? In other words, lets say I have 100 points at AKL, can I bank current points for the next use year, then borrow against the year thereafter (essentially giving me 300 points use for one stay every 3 years?)
Another thing that concerns me is that BCV term is only until 2042. I priced a few resales for around $90. That seems pretty high given the shorter term. AKL resales seem a bit more reasonable given the longer term. Both have significantly higher annual fees as well (but I also know that the BLT fees could go up over time.)
I guess what I'm ultimately wondering is this. If I have a good chance to get BCV or AKL (club level) at 7 months, I'd just as soon go with the 360 BLT points and not go thru the headaches of 3 different purchases, closing costs, etc. I'm also wondering if trading points is an option that would work well for me. I'm thinking that the occasions we wanted to stay at BCV or AKL, that my BLT points would be a pretty good trade. All things considered, $96 a point, lower annual fees to start, for what is arguably the hottest DVC property currently available with the longest term available; I think it's a pretty good deal.
I know that I could probably find the answers to all these questions at various other places within these forums, but as my title mentioned, my head is just spinning from all the info I've found thus far.
Would really appreciate any advice that anyone is willing to offer : )
