I haven't been on the Dis-boards long, and I'm not really sure what everyone wants in a pre-trip (or even a post-trip) report.....But here goes...From what I've read, the most important thing is that it's from the heart and factual....
It's only early September and we don't go until next June 2008. It's the day after my birthday and I'm thrilled that I'ved talked DH into going back (it will be three years when we return next June). Before that it was 14 years since we'd been to Disney on our honeymoon for a long weekend.
I'm a Disney Princess Wanna-Be...In early elementary we lived in central Florida; then Dad was transferred in the Coast Guard to the Great Lakes so we moved to small-town Missouri through high school graduation. Mom became sick with a familial neurological disorder when I was in middle school. We did take a trip while I was in high school where we brought my best friend, Beth, to the World. We spent a day at MK and Epcot. We also had a night at Daytona. That was a fun memory for me; Mom was NOT a drinker at ALL!!! After we checked into our inexpensive (yes, it's true -- in the '80's it was!!) beachfront hotel, Mom and Dad decided to go to the lounge for a beverage...a few hours later, my BF Beth and I are taking Mom's shoes off as she giggles hysterically because she enjoyed ONE strawberry daiquiri and was so LOOPY!!!! Giggles abounded and Beth and I enjoyed it as much as my dad and mom did!!!!!!
Anyway, it was a quick WDW trip. When I met my husband, Steve, in 1991, my mom had just passed away from the disease. He and I hit it off right away and were married within 3 months. (Scared lots of family -- oddly, not any on my side of the family!! We're all about live for the moment and don't waste time!!!) Anyway -- Steve proposed to me on a Thursday or Friday evening after I'd confessed that without a real teaching job (I just couldn't sub -- needed the health benefits), I would have to move back to my dad's in central Missouri. Poor guy, when he proposed, I thought he was just feeling sorry for me, so I immediately said, no, until I realized I crushed him with those words...A week later, we were wed in a church wedding with a small group of family and friends. I have to say that the honeymoon (a long weekend at Disney - off-site) was planned before I had a church or pastor!!!!!!! (I did run into the pastor who married us last year -- I was proud to share with him that we are still very much in love and are so grateful to him for giving us a chance...)
Sooo..........we told ourselves after this very fast honeymoon (one day at MK and one day at Epcot) that we would go back in five years...Five years came and went with bills and expenses. Then we said 10 years...same thing. Finally, I told Steve that I HAD to go BACK!!!!!! Seth (DS) was going to be 8 when I was hoping to go. We finally just made the leap and scheduled a 10 day trip to FL. We stayed at POP and did a few sidetrips ***(Daytona to space Coast in one day!!!! ***-- yikes!!, Sea World, and Universal one day). That was in 2005. I've been patient and yes, we've done other things (San Antonio last July for our anniversary and Durango area for Colorado camping and fun this year). HOWEVER, It's time for Disney again!!!!!!!!
We're now planning our June 2008 trip; or rather, I should say, I am, and DH is going with what I'm telling him....
He really is a great guy. I do wish he had more of the magic feeling inside of him, but he lets me take over with it & will surprise me with unexpected magical moments!!!!!!
So far my plans are...
I have purchased 7 day Park Hopper passes.
I'm still wavering on the flights!!!!!!! I can't commit, yet!! I'm afraid of missing a good deal!!!! We will stay at POP; just haven't confirmed, yet.
More soon!
Susan
***Typo - We did not go Orlando to Daytona to Space Coast on a daytrip (that wouldn't be bad...). Instead we got up early (as usual), had breakfast and headed to Tampa and Clearwater Beach to catch some sun. We stayed there for about an hour or so then hopped back in the car to the opposite coast! We did a quick tour of Cape Kennedy and had dinner at a fun beach bar/grill in Cocoa Beach. Got back to POP late!!! It was tremendous fun!!!!

Have you decided when in June? We went this past year mid-June. I hear the later you go in June the busier it gets. Crowds really weren't that bad when we were there....
I am going in Jan/Feb 08.
. (I've never had a bad experience, though.
