Hi

I had two place holder which I divided into two cabins

in order for my sister to benefit our platinum status ( among other thing palo )band they are silver I did put

dear husband ( platinum )/ with brother in law in one cabin
me ( platinum ) and my sister in the other one

well of course once onboard we will be with our respective spouses in our respective stateroom 😀

here comes my many interrogations
what shall I do ?
cause this way only my brother in law will have a card for the door and charging
same for our cabin only I will have a card for opening the door and charging

charging is not much of a problem but a valid card for the door is very handy

what shall I do ? At terminal go and explain it ?
will they say anything ? For us to have done it this way ?

come online check in
will I have to do both the check in ?
or can my sister do the one for her ( which is the one with my brother in law in it ) she already is paying amount on the cruise for that stateroom

for palo
we are linked

can I do the palo ressies for all of us ?

and on the app we used the sending messages ladt cruise me and my husband was fun for meeting for lunch ..movies and such
guess we won’t be able to send messages between our two staterooms right ?

1. Each reservation has to do it's own check in - you can do both but not at the same time - do one then the other for online check in.
2. Palo is linked so that is good and yes you can get that. You should be able to book activities for all since both staterooms are Platinum. Just make sure they are linked before you 120 day window.
3. You can get blank cards for each other staterooms so you can each have a card to the stateroom you are assigned and want to sleep in. You do this at guest services once onboard the ship. You would need to get the blank card for your stateroom (or your sister) and your husband or BIL will need to get blank key for their stateroom and then you just exchange blank keys and voila you are all set.
4. charging expenses - that is simple as just identifying who is paying for who. You will need your original KTTW card to pay for all charges (and that stateroom number) but you can assign your charges to your own credit card and pay just for you and your sister can assign her credit card to her charges.
5. On the app, you can send messages to anyone on the ship as long as you know their ID # for the messaging. Each person logs into the messaging and gets an unique ID which you then give to other people on the ship and they can message you in the app then. Also can frequently use iMessage or WhatsApp though like the DCL app nothing works 100% of the time for 100% of the people. Last summer we cruised with 20 people in 5 staterooms and we all were able to message each other on the app no issues and even create small chat groups with less people from our list as well for conversations.

Hope this helps.

Omg thanks yes that helped a lot

just a question though
when we go to ask for blank cards can we do it at port Canaveral ( cause guest service once onboard is so busy ) ?

and will they ask questions on why we are asking for blank cards just? good for door opening ?

thanks again

So - I have never asked for blank cards before, but you won't get them at Port Canaveral at the terminal since they no longer hand out cards at the terminal. All KTTW cards are located outside of your stateroom and available generally after 2 pm (or slightly earlier or later depending upon the day). It is after that time, that unfortunately you will need to go to Guest Services and stand in line (this is my understanding of it).

There is so much great knowledge on this board that I am confident someone who has done this recently can give much more detailed response that I am giving you about this one aspect.

And don't sweat the asking for the blank card. People do this room swap thing all the time from my read of the boards so I doubt that anyone at Guest Services will raise an eyebrow to you for asking. But again, others that have done it recently can probably shed more light on it.

Thanks

Just to clarify, the blank cards are ONLY for opening the doors. For charging things you must use the card issued to each person. And you get them at Guest Services onboard. During online check in, you can specify who/what credit card is responsible (for charging things) for each person.

I've always asked for two cards, one to carry, one to lose. They laugh and hand me two.

"what shall I do ? At terminal go and explain it ?"
You got great responses here. You did ask "should I explain it"
Please don't unless they ask. Do you know how many stories and explanations they get. They really don't care. They do want to help but all the background stuff is mostly irrelevant. Plus you are holding up the line behind you. Just tell them what you need and move on. If they need more info to fulfill the request they will ask. But they are appreciative of people who are concise and clear.

Also, no one has mentioned it, but each person must attend the muster station their assigned cabin is assigned to. And yes, even cabins right next to each other can be in different muster stations.

Done this many times. Just ask at guest service for a key card for cabin entry only, You just want access to the other cabin. They may ask permission from the guest in the other cabin so have them with you. Not a big deal at all.

When we went to guest services, we always got 2 new keys printed for the two people that were moving. That way we only have to keep up with the one key.

Does that change room status though? Our rooms are platinum and if we switched, one room would only be gold. This is why we planned to just get blank cards and not officially change anything.

No, nothing will change.

Also, you actually can get new cards printed in Port Canaveral before boarding the ship. I was in a similar situation as you last year and we just spoke to the manager that handles upgrades. She happily printed us new cards so that we could rearrange who slept where.

Thanks. We'll go up to the desk and see what they have to say.
