I need some input and opinions here.
We're going to be there at the end of August and I'm having some serious doubts about a couple of my choices.
First, is Chefs de France really that bad? I hear so many negative things about it.
Second, with all the construction going on at AKL, will it be worth it to keep our reservation at Boma? We love the food and the atmosphere there, but not if there are jackhammers in the background. :rotfl:
Ack, someone help me!

I can only speak for Chefs De France. Love it ! We've been twice with another family and kids and all loved it. Great food and great service.
If you have never been, I would keep your ADR as is.

Have a great time!

We really enjoy Chefs de France. As with anything else at Disney, opinions will vary depending on what you're used to eating and how adventurous you are with new food. The escargot appetizer is YUMMY, btw!

We are keeping our Jiko ressie and not worrying about the construction, of course we are going for dinner and I don't expect it to be that bad at that hour.

BOMA is a great restaurant, I hope you keep your ressie.

We have been impressed lately with Chefs de France--at least for lunch.

I've eaten at Chefs de France a couple of times - once on a solo trip. I love their grilled ham and cheese sandwich with salad (they have a much longer French name for it). The service was pretty good, especially when I was by myself (I had a window table to people watch which was extremely nice).

I would still keep the reservation at Boma. If the construction noise was that bad, I would think they would stop taking reservations similar to how they are moving guests to other resorts.

I'm also keeping Boma for August. I'd still eat their food with a jack hammer in the lobby! I'll apste my December review of Chefs at the bottom. It wasn't horrible or inedible, but IMHO was not at all worth the price.

We arrived a bit early for our 5:00 PS, but were seated promptly. Lisa had snails, tenderloin and cream brulee; I had mushrooms and cheese on flatbread, seared tuna, and chocolate tart. Very mixed reviews.

Both our appetizers were very good. The flatbread with mushrooms and cheese was almost large enough to be an entrée, and Lisa said her snails were quite tasty. My tuna had no taste at all. Nothing bad, but nothing good. Just nothing. The shoestring potatoes with it were room temperature. Maybe they were supposed to be? And a little on the greasy side. The bit of salad that came with it was very good. Lisa’s beef was superb and very tender, her potatoes were lack luster. Her crème brulee was excellent and my chocolate tart’s filling was great, but the crust was much too heavy.

We only ate 3 sit down meals: Boma, CdF and Kona. None of them provided remarkable service. Our server at Boma, whom I’d had before, was slow to remove dirty plates from the table and half heartedly kept an eye on our drinks. The server at France, who mentioned at the end of the meal that the gratuity was NOT included in the CP package was better, but still rather mechanical. She checked back frequently, but overall, I felt the ATTITUDE of all the wait staff we encountered was, “Here’s-your-food-I-hope-you-like-it;you-may-or-may-not-see-me-again-bye-and-have-a-nice-day.” Our Kona server plunked down the plates and then vanished until time to bring the check. Walt would not be happy.

Thank you everyone for your input! Service seems to be so hit and miss around there. One of our best service experiences was at a place that I always hear about bad service, Boatwright's. Our server was perfect. Eh, I suppose I shouldn't fret so much, it is free food this time after all. ;)

Chefs de France used to be a must-do for us. On our last visit a few months ago, we found the food quality had seriously declined (yet prices were up) and the number of tables had been increased, such that we felt we could eat our neighbors meals as easily as our own. We won't go back.

I would keep both! We had a great meal at Chef's last year and Boma is a do not miss!:thumbsup2
