So mad right now! Is this fair (cheer tryouts related)update/she made it!!

Im another one who would let it go. My daughter tried out last fall and I honestly didnt think she stood a chance because she's a big girl and the rest of those girls were all little stick figures, but she got picked and at some point during the season the coach told me she chose her because of her dedication. She showed up every single day to practice try outs with a smile on her face and did not complain once. That counted to them, they knew she would do the same for the season and she did. I will second the pp though who said that crowd is not for everyone. The girls were all very mean to her (most of them were returning) and did not want to help her learn the cheers in any way. She didn't try out for the BB season but says she plans on trying out for football again. Im not looking forward to it.

I may be naive when it comes to cheer tryouts because (thankfully) my dd was never interested, but are the routines for tryouts confidential? Do they ever use the same one from a previous year? I don't know if you have the right to be mad because I'm not sure what the rules are for these tryouts.

I have boys but we run into this all of the time. I had a long talk one time with a director for one of the sporting leagues. he told us that they could have two comparable players or one even slightly better than the other and it came down to the parents in that case. If you had a parent who was willing to pitch in and help, not make many waves, they would choose that child over the other. It's a sad fact. This is why a lot of our kids are going into travel leagues, they are still run by parents but they are a bit more objective. We also have friends that moved to Minnesota, she said the one great thing for her son was that he tried out and made a baseball team. They had to pay money for him to join but the coach is paid and does not have a child (not allowed to) on the team.

We've also been told by parents of girls who did not make the cheerleading squad that their girls had more fun with Poms. Think of it like the old saying when a door closes, a window opens. It could be a blessing in disguise.

Life isn't fair. There's nothing you can do about it. I'm sure your DD will do her best

SHE MADE IT!!!!!!

:cheer2: I guess it didn't matter after all!! We are so excited. She was number 5 and she did GREAT!! This past week was one big ole blur. We spent every minute that we could at the gym, getting home after 10:00 each night, but it was so worth it. If I could post the video I could but I need to find out how to do it. lol Anyway, I am one happy mother tonight and I am so glad that I didn't say anything to anyone about it, because she worked her tail off to do just as good, if not better than the ones who knew it. :rotfl2:

Congrats to your DD. I also hope that this puts things into perspective for you.

do just as good, if not better than the ones who knew it. :rotfl2:

Congratulations to your DD!:woohoo:

But remember, we don't know if the other girls "knew" the routine. Don't get sucked into the over competetive, nasty cheerleader/(insert whatever activity) mom role. It's unattractive and it sends the wrong message to DD.

Well done, your worry was for naught. Remember this for next year, be nice to the new parents and girls, let them in on it all so they don't feel like you did before the tryouts. Stay out of the cliques.

You are so right!! We, meaning the new mom's, were not told about several things and we found out last minute so I felt like I was scrambling all week. lol I will be sure to help the new moms next year because I know first hand how it feels.

We are still on cloud nine today, but now I am stressed about selling all of this cookie dough!! :rotfl2: The fund raisers have just began.

Here is a picture!!
