So mad at myself....

I just need to vent and I know I can here. My whole family (parents, brother and his family, and my four) all went on a land/sea/land trip a week ago. It was amazing! Hubby and I were originally going to book a Bounceback for just the parks for next year, but after the cruise, we realized that we wanted to save up another year and try to go back in 2018. We didn't realize that we could do a placeholder for up to 24 months in advance and get the 10% off and the onboard credit. I'm so mad at myself! We even went to talk to someone to discuss our return trip to Disney but they didn't have any offers for that onboard. I usually get really sea sick but we wanted to see how I did on this trip (which was great) before we decided we would go back. Oh well-I know it's only 10% but I'm just really angry at myself.

Thanks for letting me rant! It's totally my fault and I know it!

Most newbies if it was your first cruise will get something in the mail for the same offer. 2 or more cruises you won't get anything in the mail. Don't lose out hope. It should come give them a month if not call them. It can't hurt

I don't think most neebies get an offer. Some do. But I think most do not. I didn't.

It's 10%. Don't worry about it any longer.

You're totally right-that's what my husband keeps saying. It won't make us or break us!

I'm really sorry. Try to let it go and move forward. I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip! Your vacation sounds like it was ahhhmaaaaazing!!

After our first cruise, (which we didn't book a dummy cruise/placeholder), we really didn't think we'd do another. About 2 weeks after we were home, we changed our minds and decided we wanted to take another. I called DCL and asked them if there was any way they could give us the 10% off, the CM said there was no way for her to do that. I wished her well and told her I'd call back when we decided on which of 2 cruises we really wanted. About a week later I received a 10% voucher in the mail from DCL. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but I was happy. It was a straight 10% off on 1 cabin only and did not have any onboard credit, but it was something at least. Just my $.02 and something for you to ponder if you want to call or not.

It was such a great vacation! I have been on many cruises growing up and got so sick on them, usually requiring a shot to get better. This was the first cruise I didn't need a shot. My husband, my kids, and I all LOVED it. It's definitely not going to take away the parks from us, but it was so much fun!

That's the thing-we didn't think we would be able to do another. We didn't think money wise we would be able to wing it and it wasn't a thought in our minds. We also weren't sure if I would be sick on the day at sea and wanted to see how I faired out, plus, play around with our vacation account at home to see how much we would have to put away for the next two years to get it to work.

We did call today and they also told us, "No." Which, I totally understand. I wish they gave you a little bit more time to think about it because like I said, we had to go home, crunch some numbers (I'm a math teacher, always need to crunch numbers) and see if we really could do this in the foreseeable future. It wasn't until I was perusing the boards last night that I saw someone put a hold down for a 2018 cruise that I realized the mistake I made by not booking onboard. Oh well, such is life. Maybe we'll get something, maybe not! We're still budgeting for it in two years and 3-400 dollars won't be the deciding factor for us.

Thanks everyone! I knew you all would understand!

I feel your pain as I made the same mistake. We were so busy enjoying the cruise, we forgot all about the placeholder.

We booked our second cruise & know we will still enjoy it, but wish we had 10% discount & OBC.

Live & learn!

Happy planning!

I don't think I will go on another DCL cruise until winter break 2018 so I know I won't be within the 2 years needed to take advantage so I didn't book. Maybe I'll get something in the mail...I have other cruises booked so it's okay if I don't.

Thanks for your words! We feel the same way! Enjoy yours!!

Here's a question-what if you had new cruisers with you? My husband and I are considered silver members because we cruised before but my kids weren't (until this one). Will they get something sent to them for now being Castaway Cay members?
