So Mad At Dining Reservations!

I just found out that my reservation for Coral Reef is for two tables instead of one table that will accomodate all 7 of us!!!

I know the CM did NOT tell me this at the time I made the ressie. I didn't do two other restaurants because we couldn't sit together so why would I have taken that one!!!

Has anyone ever had this happen? What did you do about it? I want to call and talk to a manager but will it help?

By the way, there is no other ressie for that day or any other day we are there that would have all of us together...so mad!

This has happened to us as well. They will do their best to accomodate your party when you get there (byt trying to seat you all together or at least tables next to each other). You can keep calling to see if anything opens up as well. I'm sorry you weren't informed ahead of time.

Many, many Disney restaurants book parties of 8, with the stipulation that you may not sit together. In practice, this is extremely rare, as they will simply shove two tables for 4 together. It is simply the way the Disney Dining reservation system shows available table charts, it doesn't show one table for 8, it shows two tables of 4. Few, if any, restaurants have dedicated tables for 8.

We always go in a large group - Generally 5A 2c. They always reserve two different tables for us and we have NEVER ever been separated. (As much as I'd love to escape them at some point in the trip )

I seriously wouldn't waste one more minute worrying about it. Cases of not being seated together are very rare. When you check in just let them know that you're willing to wait longer if you have to so you can be seated together.

we are a party of 8 and when ever we go we are always told that we are booked for 2 tables. only twice have we ever had to actually split up. chef mickeys and ohanas. but, both times when we arived they asked us if we wanted to wait for a table for 8 or did we want forst available. we always say first available, its not a big deal to us.

I agree with the previous posts. On our last trip, we had 4 out of 6 ADRs that were for separate tables. We ended up being seated together at all of them. The restaurants try their hardest to keep people together, and the chance is very very slim that you will actually be seated at separate tables.

Been to Coral Reef 3 times with a party of 6 or 7 and ALWAYS have 2 separate tables. It is just the way they have to set up the tables so that EVERYONE can see the fish. There are no large seating areas and, in case they didn't tell you, only groups of 2 or 4 can sit at the glass. THere is a large booth that has a leaf between it that they can sometimes group 2 tables together, but there are only a couple of those and they cannot accomodate a highchair. (It becomes a horseshoe once the leaf connects the two tables together.) Most places will try to put your group together, but often they can't. We are always together at Trails End, CapeMay, PrimeTime, WCC. We have always sat separately at Coral Reef, the Plaza, CRT.

Yes I have a family of seven . I would just tell them when I get to the resturant be real nice about it nice always works better. They will do there best for you if not the same table right next to each other. They should.

While we don't have a large party, just 4, we too had something similar happen. I already had H&V fantasmic dinner, but we've done it twice and after trying a few times for Mama Melrose a nice CM suggested 2 tables for 2.

Well after a couple days go by and I'm making my last ADR, I asked if CM could read back my ADR's just to make sure everything was in order. Turns out the 2 tables for 2 at Mama Melrose are 10 minutes apart. Hope it isn't a big deal. The CM who booked it was nice to suggest this and told me we would not have a problem just asking to sit together. I wouldn't really mind if we get the 2 tables seperate, we just wanted to try Mama's. However the CM did not mention the time difference.

Disney World books reservations based on tables. So a party of seven would more than likely be at two tables for four. It's not a big deal at all. The reservation is in the system as linked. What the restaurant will do is see that and do everything in their power to make sure that two tables for four will be opening up at your reservation time. So if your reservation is at 7:00, they will attempt as much as they can, to see that the diners of two side by side tables will be done with their meal by about 6:50 or so.

For our reservation for ten at Cape May, we had one table for six (there are only two tables for six there) and one table for four. When we checked in, the table of six was just leaving but the table for four decided to stay and chat for a while. But no one was seated at the table for six. Once the table for four was done (we were told all of this as things progressed), then we were seated.

Our table for twelve was three tables of four right in the middle of the restaurant. When we got there, all three tables were empty and I asked for them to be pushed together. That was the only delay in us getting seated.

Disney World has to tell you that you might not be seated together. They can't force the people who have the tables before you to leave.

we had resis for contemp steakhouse last year and there were 8 of us so they put down 2 tables ....well... we were on two complete dif sides of the place! we could not even see the other table...

agree with others - go and politely ask to be seated together. (Or you can keep calling back for availability but I don't know if it'd be worth the time.) Coral Reef *can* accommodate a table of 7 *if* they have one open. We were a party of 7 (4a 3c), booked as a party of 7, and were seated as a party of seven in a circular booth (comfortable with PLENTY of room). It was in the back on the upper level, but we still had a nice view of the tank and a fabulous dinner. If they can't seat you together, I'm sure they will at least seat you next to each other. Please don't let it ruin your dining experience if that happens. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm going to keep the reservation and hope for the best! I will keep my smile on and know that no matter what, it's a great experience because hey, we're at DISNEY! Thanks for putting it into perspective.

Even recent for teh Garden View Tea I had to make a res for 4 and could only get two tables for two.
When I checked in at the podium I was told someone changed my 2 for 2 to a table for 4.
The place was nearly empty. So why it was an issue at all I could not understand. At least it worked out.
Yours probably will too. But at least you are aware there is that possibility.

We have been at least 4 times and always sit together at Coral Reef even though we are told 2 tables. You actually sit in 2 tables but they have a bench sit at the back so its like one big table. Hard to explain but the back seats of the table are like a "booth".
