We're going the 3rd week of August (due to Kayla's Extended School Year schedule, it the only time we have available before school starts).

Just trying to get mentally prepared for the heat!

It will be in the mid to upper 90s most days. It will also be very, very humid. If you take it easy and hydrate you should be OK.

I've been the 3rd week of August and it was hot! But manageable!

Not sure what issues you and/or your family face but when we were there it also happened to be more rainy than usual. It affected some of our plans to swim in the afternoon and get back to the parks at night. We had these 5+ hour thunderstorms that were really something! I think that is unusual - it is more typical for the short, heavy outburst of rain in the afternoon. It was definitely better to tour the parks as early in the a.m. as possible - fewer people, cooler, no rain, etc.

I really find a good touring plan like Tour Guide Mike (who sponsors the theme park board here) to be the difference on our vacations to how much time we spend in lines, etc. I like that he offers touring plans but also explains the reasons behind it so if you need to modify it (based on your needs).

I would go back in August - you'll be fine!:thumbsup2

VERY VERY VERY..... HUMID. I think the humidty is worse than the heat.. and the combonation is the killer.. but as you can see ive gone 2x in august and we are going back for more this year.. you just have you use your common sense.. drink lots and go to those 20 minute shows in A.C

We did the third week this year and we are contemplating doing it again in August 2009.

Crowds have died down. Go early to the parks--leave midday-- go back in the evening. Subscribe to TGM- nothing worse than being at the wrong park at the wrong time in the heat.

Pack extra clothes and be prepared to do laundry because you sweat through your first outfit. Stay hydrated. AND HAVE FUN!! It's not horrible. Just stay as cool as you can. Its a great time to go; take advantage of the shade and air conditioning when you can.

We go at that time every year. It's hot, but there are so many places where you can cool off that it's very tolerable. Plan to drink lots of water. Go to parks early, then go back to swim or nap after lunch before hitting the parks again in the later afternoon. Our kids have been 6 times in August, and when they talk about what they remember from our trips, they never mention being too hot to have fun!

we are going for the third time on the 11th aug. its very hot, play swim sleep play. Thats my only advice..

Maybewe should organise a dis meet??

I went in September and the humidity and drizzles got to me. August is doable if you do a lot of planning. Do the out door rides first thing in the morning, try to use early morning hours, and then go to shows and indoor attractions. Take the rest of the day off then if you have energy come back for fireworks and a few rides. Make sure that nobody pushes themselves silently. I seen kids dragged around DLR until they are in fits or crying tired. It takes a while to get to the hotel for a break or even to get a cold drink and popcorn.

hot, hot, hot!
take plenty of water-you'll be surprised at ow much you drink

on the left side of MK all the shops are connected-good way to cool off

just get over the wet, sweaty feeling and kind of go with it-surprisingly our photos look great we don't look waterlogged

Are the hours still extended for the time you are visiting? Are you early birds or night owls? If you can answer yes to these questions, I think it's do-able in August. If you can't get to the parks at opening, or can't stay at the parks past dark, then it could be very, very difficult. We've found the parks to be unbearable between noon and dinner time. That's our pool/nap/shower time.

We were at WDW the 1st week of August last year.
I'm not sure where you're located, but it wasn't any hotter in WDW than here where I live in Maryland. On some days, it was actually hotter here than in WDW. (DH checked the weather back home on his IPhone everyday).

We were there in second week of August last year. I found it very uncomfortable. I am a wheelchair user and I found the humidity and heat very draining. I am used pushing myself put I found it more difficult. The kids were uncomfortable and really didn't want to wait and so we spent more time at the hotel with them in the pool. Obviously if that is the only time you can go, have a great time and follow the suggestions of others to utilize the shows and indoor activities.

We went last year in August and we are going again this August. It is hot and we did move slower and we did spend more time in the water, but we had a great time. It was nice being able to swim in the evenings. We had a more relaxing trip, not rushing around to attractions and we took mid-day breaks as the day heated up. The GAC is very helpful because we were able to get in all the attractions and take breaks in between if needed. So many rides and attractions are inside and have a/c so it's mainly just moving around the parks. The evenings were enjoyable especially after the sun goes down. I think the most important thing is getting into the parks early and drinking plenty of water. Linda :)
