So just how drunken does F&W get?

It can get pretty rowdy. I made some video last time I was there.

I didn't find it too bad, especially in the daytime/early evening. I did see two fairly intoxicated 30ish couples that only stood out to me because they had several kids with them and no one seemed to watching the toddler.

You will have a much better experience on Monday. When I visited the F&W I did not experience any drunk experiences. I guess it just by chance you get any kind of outbursts. However, the crowds are crazy on the weekends!
Better chance you will get a less wilder crowd on Monday.

We have taken 2 trips during F&W. We are mostly day-goers, with a night or 2 just for an Epcot ADR, maybe a bit of dessert from one of the kiosks. I never saw someone so much as tipsy. I'm guessing any problems come later in the evenings.

I have been going for 7 years now and have never had a negative encounter with anyone who had to much to drink.

This, though I've been going for 12+ years. Overall, it's really not bad at all even on weekend nights. Sure, there's the occasional tipsy idiot, but I've never encountered anything bad enough to ruin my time there.

For a laugh, go to youtube and type in "drunk at wdw" there's a funny video of a drunk guy dancing to Off Kilter at Epcot. Not sure if this was during F&W, but funny anyway. Watch when he starts screaming at the little girls walking by.

I love F&W and I have always thought F&W goers were pretty tame until last October on a Saturday night. It WAS like a frat party. Even my college age DD and her BFF - who have been known to get a little rowdy - were shocked. Mostly because they did not expect that kind of atmosphere at WDW. We ate our dinner and left. The only time we have seen that but it was bad. ANd the crowds were huge. Even without the drunkenness the crowds would have been unbearable. Avoid a Saturday night and you should be fine. That was our first and last Saturday night.

What night were you there? We were there 2 Saturday nights last October. The first was a little rowdy, but the second seemed really bad early on. The first Saturday we had just arrived at WDW after some flight issues which is a whole other story, and stayed in EPCOT the last couple of hours it was open. I had a few teaching moments with DD (then 7), about how stupid people look when they drink too much alcohol- most notably a group of 20 something drunk guys attempting to climb into the top level of the fountain/birdbath outside the restrooms in the UK. I was shocked that Disney security wasn't right there and really thought they were going to break the thing. It wasn't horribly bad though, just more rowdy than a typical Epcot Saturday night. There was nothing that made me think twice about DD being there. The second Saturday night, we were only there briefly and fairly early because DD wanted something specific from one of the food and wine booths that evening, and we were going to spend the evening swimming at BC, but it was the roughest I've ever seen WS. It was only about 6:30 or a little after and it was already packed and full of wild drunks. DH was glad to get DD (7) out of there, and we aren't that conservative when it comes to stuff like that. DD has seen Mom drink Grey Goose slushes from France plenty of times. ;) I really hope the wild rowdy idiot crowd doesn't eventually wind up ruining it for everyone else. Hopefully that night was just a fluke.

Aside from Saturday nights, I think you will be fine. We were there in the evening a couple of other nights during the week, and didn't really see much bad behavior. It might have been a little more crowded than usual, but other than that, it had its normal feel. During the day, we didn't notice it being much different than any other time of the year.

I've never noticed a ton of wildly drunk people at F&W. However, i'm sure a few dozen people of a "drunk F&W" story about me.

This past F&W I ran into the restroom in England to get sick. I used to suffer from gallstones and anything even remotely fattening would cause me to get sick. Apparently even the meat sauce at via napoli. As I was leaving the rest room I heard a woman say "If people can't handle their alcohol, they shouldn't be at F & W". Even though I wasn't remotely drunk, I guess I added to the expectation people have of the festival.

Can someone give me some info on what to expect on a Sunday night? How do the crowds compare? Thanks!
