Well, once the points are available through Disney, the points are yours, no ROFR to deal with. You still might have to wait a while, I was lucky and only waited less then a week. Disney is running $89 per point, where as a resale including closing costs to pass ROFR probably should be around $77 per point. There is a significant savings going resale, but the process to obtain points is lengthly and can be as long as 2 months from intial offer to the points being in your account. If you're also particular on the use year you'd get in the resale market, that could lengthen the process. We actually had decided to buy a resale, but that was before the change by DVC. We had signed contracts and paid a deposit. We decided as an insurance policy to place our name on the list (figuring it wouldn't come through too quickly) in case ROFR was exercised. Well we got the call that the waitlist came through yesterday. Our resale contract was a different use year than we had, and we really felt it wasn't going to pass based on the reports of ROFR from other DIS members. So, with us still being in the 10 day cancellation period on the resale, we pulled out. Basically, because the points were there for our using immediately, and it was the same use year. It really is a personal decision and you could still troll the resale market while waiting for Disney to come through. Wherever you find the most compatible resale, go with it. It really is a personal preference, and if you do want to save a bit of money, the resale market is the way to go, but it seems to be more of an uncertainity with a more active ROFR market. I just didn't want to continue submitting contracts and getting rejected, this way, I'm done and can now plan my next vacation!!!
