So, is ROFR-mania over?

Wow, I am really nervous. I just put a call in to the Timeshare store to up my offer to 73 a point. It is 72 points now, but I just offered that last night. I am hoping the paperwork can be adjusted to 73. He doesn't get in until 11 this morning.

We are not under any time constraints, so rather that being nervous, I don't mind waiting to hear from Disney about ROFR.

It took about 3 weeks to hear about the ROFR from the time of first offer....on the contract we lost.

The difference on Disney and resale is over $3000 for 200 points. We really wanted to pay cash and don't have an extra 3 grand laying around.

Of course I would love to be booking our vacation right now, but it is the whole money thing.

I wish you luck. Also offer to pay closing (if you already didn't) and reimburse any maintenence fees for any 2004 points remaining. That will also get you through ROFR. Those two items, regardless of price per point are both red flags to DVC during the ROFR process. We pulled out on a resale contract with TTS yesterday. We were going to be paying 71.50 per point, and closing, only 30 points left for 04, so we didn't reimburse for maintenence. Since we felt that wouldn't pass, and the BWV add-on was directly available, we went with DVC. Yeah, it's costing me an additional $2k, but I'll have 2004 points to rent out and if I do, it brings the difference to only $500. I might use those points too, so it's like a vacation I would have paid cash for anyway. I'm paying cash also, but to me it was worth it. As I said earlier, only you can make the decision on whether it worth it, for me to have the same use year (the resale was a different use year) it was worth it. Also, the fact the points were immediately available to me and I didn't have to wait for ROFR played as well. Good luck getting your offer raised!!!

Just talked to timeshare store, they are faxing me paperwork to change from 72 a point to 73 a point. Hopefully that little bit will make the difference. I will keep you posted.

Please don't take this the wrong way because I completely understand and even agree with what you are doing. But I am sitting here laughing out loud trying to picture the seller's reaction to this.

What ... they want to give me more money?!?!? ..... Uhm...... OK

I assume that they are unaware of the recent increase in ROFR activity and are going to be befuddled by this counteroffer :teeth:

Sorry, Lori....I just couldn't resist!! After linking you to those contracts that we DIDN'T use...I read this!!!

You are SOOOO keeping those points!!!:hyper: :hyper:

Gosh, it's like a disease, isn't it!!! Get those points in your account, and you just have to SPEND them!!!

Have fun on your vacation!!!

Yep Beca, those points are MINE!!!! I actually already used the banked points today to book 5 nights at BWV next summer and I'm thinking of using the 2005 points for a trip to Vero over Easter Break..... Who needs to rent, when you can just take another trip!!!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I just passed this week with a 73 per point, I paid closing, and MF's for a 150 point contract at BWV. I used the Timeshare store.

I know that a 71 didn't pass this week, so I think the lowest price right now is 73 for VWL, BCV, or BWV with the buyer paying closing and MF's, thus Timeshare is making adjustments where possible.

I still think resale is the way to go, even more so if you get a contract with points. To me $73-$75(equal to $76-$78 adding in closing) is still better than $89. I'll take an extra $1000 in my pocket any day(wish it could be every day :D )

We are still waiting to hear on our VWL contract. We paid about $71.90 (just the way it worked out through the e-Bay auction) and are paying closing and 2004 maintenance fees. If what you say is true, we are very borderline. If we had found this contract on the open market, given all the banked points, we probably would have offered more than what our winning bid was. Oh well, you know what they say about hindsight being 20-20 vision!!!

Good luck RuthnPaul!!! I hope it works out for you!!! I know how awesome VWL is, since that is one of our home resorts!!!!

Lori,

Yes, I am sure the seller is shocked!!! I would have loved to see the look on their faces when the timeshare store called them.

Good luck RuthnPaul! I know how you feel right now.

kaw1106 - if you don't mind me asking what are the particulars on your Timeshare Contract? I'm asking because we pulled out of an April BWV contract yesterday, and you picked up one yesterday. The contract we backed out on was 152 points.

Hi Lori,

It is for 210 points, April use year, 28 points available now.

I have to laugh, funny you thougt that, my hubby thinks you got the points we lost. It was Feb use year 200 points....at BWV. We found out we lost it the day after you got it.

I should have know Disney would snatch it, 70 dollars a point, 212 points that had to be used by Feb 1, 2005.

What a deal that would have been!!!!

No, I think I actually got another Dis'ers ROFR points. LisaSt is the name here on the DisBoards and he/she had a Feb contract with 150 points bought back the week before I got my points. Since Disney has to wait until closing to make the points available again, those look like the ones. Also, those 200 points might be going to another Diser, since I do know that another Dis'er is on the wait list for Feb use year points at BWV. Good luck with your resale, and I hope it works out for you!!!!!

HI All! Just heard from our disney guide Edwin this morning at 8:30 am. Disney had over 600 pts for BWV for June use year. We jumped at that and got 200 pts added to what we already own. We were on the waiting list but only waited about a week if that for points to become available. I think we also got someone's ROFR too!

Just really excited!

P.S. I was told by my guide that they have over 1-2 months of contracts and is going to be buying more back for BC, BWV, and some for VWL. He said by all means this ROFR mania isn't over yet.

That's great!

I was on the waitlist for BCV points and only waited 5 days for my add-on points! Really liking the new system, even if it does cost more!

Lori and SoCalKDG:

Thanks for your concern! Given the current climate, both DH and I are a lot more nervous about the ROFR process this time than we were with either of our other 2 contracts earlier this year!

Wildernessgirl:

When you said that your Guide told you they have over 1-2 months of contracts, did you mean they currently have this large of a backlog? Just asking because I was under the impression that Disney only has 30 days to exercise ROFR. Guess it's a bit encouraging for us that they are only buying back SOME VWL contracts!!

And tomorrow WOULD have to be Friday the 13th!! :headache:
