I can't wait to go back to the US. We went for the first time in March/April this year and absolutely loved it, especially WDW. I am thinking that I would like to go back Sept/Oct 2016. This time I would like to spend a week and do NY and Washington (is that doable in a week??) and then 2 weeks at WDW. I have got the bug bad! ;)

Never to early I think. It puts you in a great frame of mind thinking of your next holiday I think ! I know the feeling about the bug! Washington and NY are sure on our list. I think a week might be a good amount of time but for some I've heard that 1 week is just a teaser but I've not been so I cant say for sure.

Thank you both for enabling me!! :thumbsup2 Yeah I'm worried that a week will be way too squashy to fit everything in comfortably but realistically I can't see how we can schedule any longer for holidays. If we would be missing out on too much of NY in 3-4 days then I would rather do Washington for the full week instead, if that makes sense. We did 9 nights at WDW in March the other 5 nights we did down around the Keys. I don't regret seeing the Keys and the Everglades at all but I wish we had of had longer at WDW and also time to go to Universal etc. So this trip I really want to keep a full fortnight for Disney magic (and a smidge of Universal ;) )

oh I've been enabled by others here so it's only fair I do the same to people also! I came recently on to write a TR for a trip last year and now I have another trip in the planning including stops at DL, WDW a Disney cruise possibly 2 and maybe even NY!

There is so much at WDW and then the resorts themselves so the longer you can manage the better I say.

It's never to early to talk your next vacation - half the fun is in the planning and for me it always starts the day I get home from my last trip :)

I have been thinking about our 2016 trip since we got back from our once in a life time trip last year. It has evolved from a 2 week trip to California to do DL again with a bit of Universal Studios on the side. To a 3 week trip One week in NY and 2 weeks at WDW and now a 4 week trip that includes a Disney Cruise, 2 weeks at WDW and a week of general sight seeing around Orlando. Can't wait. We're planning on late August/September.

Hi Zosha. Its not too early to start discussing holidays in 2016, after all, 2014 is practically over and its always nice to have something wonderful to look forward to (helps me get through the working week) :)

We have been to New York once (last year) and Washington a couple of times and there is heaps to see in both cities. You might have to prioritize what you really want to see in order to visit both cities in one week.

If I can make one suggestion, have a look at travelling between the two cities via train. Last year we were in Washington first and then caught the Amtrak to New York. It was fantastic - so much more relaxing then getting to the airport, dealing with airport staff and going through security. Plus the train stations are located in the the middle of the cities (Union station for Washington and Penn Street Station for New York). Once we arrived in New York, we were able to walk to our hotel from the train station, rather than having to deal with airport transfers.

The trains have free wifi, you can get up and walk around and get to see a piece of the countryside out the window.

I had started planning our 2015 trip the second I got back from my 2013 trip so it's never too early to talk holidays! We were going for Halloween/Christmas stuff next year but since my Kidney failed in May forcing me back onto Dialysis we're now looking at 2016/7/8 depending on how long it takes to get another Kidney plus my bestie just fell pregnant so wouldn't have been able to go next year anyway. I suppose in a way it means we have longer to save up so can afford to stay longer, do more and see more :)

Our plans for next year were a 3/4 night cruise to the Caribbean, 5/6 nights at Universal Orlando, 2 weeks at WDW, 1 week at DL, visit to Seaworld, maybe a six flags park (coaster junkies) and then try and slip in a trip to NYC to see some US friends so hopefully we can do that still, just a question of when really. It's going to be exciting to see Disney through a little ones eyes though :yay:

We got back from our last trip in January. I've been 'planning' our next trip for Dec '16 since not long after we got home. Our previous trips were two years apart, this one would be three. Our previous trips have been for almost two months but DH said no longer than 4 weeks this time. We'll see

Never too early to book. Best way to get good prices in the trip is to book early. I am a mad planner myself. Booked our cruise 577 days out. Got the room u wanted that way too.

We just arrived home on 11/3 and I already booked for next year (2015).
We usually go every 2 years but we had such a fabulous time with FP+ and ADRs this year we are going back next year.

My only complaint is that DHS is getting a little old. Time for some upgrades
:( You can only see the same show so many times. With the exception of Fantasmic for me...never gets old.

thats awesome! going to the same place or somewhere different?

It is never too early to start planning holidays. I started working towards my September 2014 trip back in August 2012 :rotfl2:

And as soon as we got back, we booked for September again next year :thumbsup2

I will be interested to hear how things unfold with your week in NYC/Washington DC idea. We'll only have a week for the east coast on our next trip, flying into NYC. We're planning to do only 3 nights in NYC just to see the main sights, then I'm looking at going country for 3 nights. I'm just not a big city kind of person and I think I'd get too overwhelmed with any more time in NYC. Washington DC is also on my travel list, but I really want to spend some time out of the city so it might just have to wait.

I don't think it's too early to start planning for 2016!

We've been talking about our planned trip to DisneyLand LA in 2016 for well over a year now! Same goes for our planned trip to DisneyLand Tokyo in 2017 and our planned trip to DisneyLand Hong Kong and Shanghai in 2018 (or possibly 2019 depending upon reported crowd numbers in Shanghai).

As for doing Washington and New York in a week, I would recommend against trying to squeeze both destinations into seven days. The last time we went to the US, we had eight days in New York and there was still plenty to see and do. We also had two days in Washington and while it was enjoyable, I would much prefer to return to New York.

It ultimately depends upon what you want to do in each city. If you only want to see a few sights in New York, then you may have time for both.

Nope, we came home from our once in a lifetime trip end of March, by May I had booked another lot of tickets (they were super cheap).

No doubt I'll be planning another after our next trip :rotfl2:

In all seriousness, life is short so make the most of it.

I love that I'm considered normal here! :rotfl2:

I am starting to wonder if NY/Washington in a week could be a bit ambitious. Thanks for the train suggestion Montanabel - avoiding airports sounds great!
Teddykins, I hope your kidneys behave so you can get over there.

I agree. We did the same thing on our trip to the US.

If you're arriving late on the train into Washington, I would recommend taking a cab to your hotel unless it is very close to the train station.

We arrived in Washington by train quite late, probably around 9/10pm, and the streets were empty except for a number of homeless people who would randomly follow us for 100 to 500 metres asking for money. They were harmless, but it was a bit of a nuisance when it was late, we were tired, we were lugging around our bags and we had never been to Washington before.

I'm mentally planning my oct/nov 2016 trip. It would possibly have been a 2015 trip but we now have two overseas weddings in 2015...

At this stage I'm hoping for the following:
Leave MEL/land in MCO Oct 22 2016.
Spend first day in MK for my 30th birthday!

Accom: 5-6 nights at YC and 4-5 nights CSR. Possibly split in the true sense of putting 4 nights at universal in between. This should allow me to do MNSSHP AND MVMCP (will it?)

In the past couple of days, I've been fantasizing about a 3-4 night cruise in there too, but I think that's a bit ambitious both financially and whether hubby would be into 17 nights dedicated to WDW, DCL, and UOR/IOA...

I wish I was rich... Or earned $150k a year!!!

Glad I'm not the only one planning a 2016 trip! It's never too early!

Princess Jes it's mine and hubby's 30th birthdays in Oct 2016 too, hence our plan to go back to the US! We're looking at travelling with friends and doing a Carribean cruise, WDW, Nashville & Vegas. We will be pushed for time because of work so not as long at WDW as I'd like but doubt I could get more than 5 days in WDW out of DH until after we've had children anyway!

DH is having a big career change next year, starting training in May. Luckily the training is paid or he'd not be able to even give it a go, but even still it's a big paycut during training (18-20 months) so not sure if our US plans are feasible anymore but he's adamant we're going so we shall see.
