Just thirding the option of a train between NYC and Washington (or vica versa). So easy and inner city to inner city and only takes around 3 hours. We left NYC on a morning train and got in after lunch so good timing and we just crossed from the train to the Washington subway system to get to a station right near our hotel. We had 2.5 days in Washington and it was enough to get a feel for the place and see a selection of the museums but you could easily spend longer. NYC we had 5 full days and could have easily spent longer but I would estimate 7-8 days is enough to see NYC and Washington if you have a full week you can allocate to it. Happy planning!
I'm thinking we should make an official 2016 planning thread
I know I really enjoyed keeping up with everyone's plans when I was planning my 2014 trip! I don't think it can ever be to early to plan a trip! Starting to plan now will go in your favor, especially now with dining reservations being booked (is it 60??) days in advance. With the likes of Fantasmic! now having fastpasses and inclusive dining options, it will be good to know what your doing on what days
And who knows, they could have rolled out magic bands in DLR by then
