So, if you've reserved a king bedded room . . .

is it guaranteed you'll get one?

I just booked one at CBR and was told that it would be a king bed, water view room. It seems like I'm paying a little extra for it as it's about $15 more (including tax) than the std room I had booked at POR. I don't mind as long as that's what I really get. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks :)

I would make sure it says so on your reservation.

You reserve it, it is not a request. That is an option just like a water view. You pay extra for it.

Thanks for clearing that up safety mom.

I still request it be on the confirmation - even if I am paying for it.
Just like it says waterview, I would want it to say King Bed.

That's just me.

Thanks. I am paying for it but I will check my confirmation just to make sure. I also asked the CM to request a water view and she kept saying it almost always is but I wasn't sure about that. She said she'd put it in the request anyway. Are king rooms always corner rooms?

Thanks again :)

Yes, king rooms are corner rooms. Also, just to clarify, if you booked a king bed room, then the king bed is guaranteed. What is not guaranteed is the view. King bed rooms have a "non-designated" view, meaning it could look at the lake, or it could look at the parking lot. King bed rooms are scattered throughout the resort.

Hi,
Last year we had booked a king room at PO. When we arrived there was no king bed available. Be aware that you don't always get what you want!
We had alot of fun anyway on our visit. We didn't let the tiny double beds get to us!
Sandy

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I didn't think they "almost always" were a water view but that's what the CM said so I thought I'd ask. Glad she put a water view in the request anyway.

It wouldn't be a really bad thing to not get a king bed but when you didn't get one snels - did they charge you less? Or did you at least get a water view for that price? 'Cause they are charging me more for that room type.

:)

I had a friend who went last Sept. and had resv. at the CBR with a request of a king bed. Upon check-in they were told that they didn't have a king bed here, but they had a king bed available at the OKW. This being there 1st time to DW they just said ok.
Well when they got there not only did they have a king bed, but they got this huge room with a kitchen, laundry area, separate bedroom and more, and all for the same price she paid for the CBR. Boy did that make their 1st time there special.

dizkidz2 - that's a great story, how nice for your friends. I guess if they don't have a king bed I can ask where they can put me that does have one :)

We requested a king bed at CBR but didn't get it. We did however get a corner room, but it had 2 double beds.

I thought the only time you had to pay extra was for water view???

Keep in mind that you can still request a king bed if you book a standard view or water view room. There are some handicap accessible rooms in those categories. But that is just a request, so they may not have one. The key is that if you BOOK a king bed room, unless the resort has messed up and overbooked, you should be guaranteed the king bed room.

No, if you book a king bed room, then you pay the same rate as a water view room. However, if you book a standard view room, you can request a king bed (which would end up being a handicap accessible room) and still pay the standard room rate. However, because it is a request and was not booked as a king bed room, then it is not guaranteed.

This thread addresses a question I've had as well. My fiance and I booked a king bed room (at least that is what I told the TA and it looks like that is what it is b/c of price) and I was concerned about us getting stuck with two doubles at POR. I will have to double check on our confirmation sheet to make sure it says king bed. That is our biggest request - non smoking comes second to that bed. We are such bed hogs that when we stayed at a hotel with double beds we each ended up pushing the other out of the bed sometime during the night.

On a similar note - what about king rooms at the All Star resorts - are there any and are they just request that may or may not be honored. We want to go back at xmas and those rooms would be the cheapest but maybe not worth it if we can't get a king bed.

Thanks

There are a limited number of king beds at the All Stars. They are handicap accessible rooms. You can only request one, it cannot be guaranteed, unless a person needs the room for medical reasons.

We booked a king bed for our honeymoon at POR. It was on our confirmation that we paid for a king room. When we arrived, we were given a waterview with 2 doubles. We weren't told about this at check in; we discovered it on our own when we opened the door to the room! We called the front desk and were told that king beds were only a request. Having spent many years in the travel industry selling Disney, I knew that wasn't true. We spent way too much time on the phone arguing with the manager on duty who only wanted to give us a 50% discount on the first night and put us on a waiting list-with 5 parties ahead of us-for king beds. My dh had spent time as a manager for Hyatt and knew the laws...if they don't have what you booked, they must upgrade you. Finally, after a lot of back and forth with the manager, we were moved to the Polynesian at the same price.

Now we are spoiled and only stay at the deluxes...

We stayed at Dixie Landings, a few years ago, and paid for a king bedded room, which was also a water view room, but not a corner room! Last year, we stayed at ASMu, paid for a standard room (got Jazz), requested a king bed...which we were lucky enough to get! :D
