The MS person said they won't call or anything if it goes through..I guess it just shows up on your upcoming vacations list? But does it show anywhere else as a waitlisted thing? And then if you get it, it just pops up on your upcoming vacation list with no other notice? is this right?

Yes, the reservation you can see on DVCmember.com will just change from what you booked before to the new waitlisted resort, if it comes through. You will get a confirmation in the mail as well, but that takes a while.
