So if you HAD to choose

Shorter. 10 days sounds nice, but it's too hard for me to be away from work that long. And DH is self employed, so no vacation pay for him. Plus we always do a week at family camp too, so we keep our other vacation at a week or less.

Also don't want to leave the pets for more than a week.

Put us in the shorter and more frequent club. We tried to do the less frequent deal, but found out that we just couldn't do it. The siren song is too strong... lol. We are lucky enough to be able to drive to WDW comfortably in one day, so that allows us some more flexibility.

We have settled on every other year, so we can hit other places on the "off" years.

Longer, less frequent trips. That way I get to go other places, WDW and DLR stay fresh and exciting for me and I come home from vacation relaxed instead of exhausted. When DH retires I am going to use our timeshare to spend a month or two in Florida every year (spring or fall, haven't decided which) - some time at the beach, some time in Orlando & WDW. I can't wait!!! I could do it now in the summer b/c I am a teacher, but I'd be by myself and it'd be soooooo hot.

What an interesting topic, OP! It's such a mix!

Shorter, more frequent for me. I would be so utterly depressed leaving if I knew I wouldn't be back for 3-4 years.

How about a yearly 4-5 day trip with a 10-14 day trip every 3-4 years? Ideal!

Shorter yearly trips! I usually only go for 5 days anyways, sometimes shorter if money's tight. 5 days is just enough to see most of everything and still not be completely exhausted! And it it means, I get to go every year…. :thumbsup2

I've always mixed things up considerably- how often, how long, overall budget. So my answer is kind of neither. Maybe skip WDW for a year, maybe take three weekend length trips. about the only thing I don't do is go for more than about seven days.

This year we opted out of the extended-family trip. The new WDW dynamic changes things in ways that don't work well with my extended family.

I know enough of pricing WDW visits to know a good deal (air, hotel, tickets) when I see one.

I actually like mixing things up. I don't relish being locked into taking a trip of a certain length, or staying at a certain place.

Your question also assumes that time is not an issue. It's too much to take off 14 days all at once! So how much time we can spare is another factor. Sometimes three days is all we have!

Last, seven is great amount of time in WDW, after about seven, the crowds/lines/same songs/big meals over and over start to get annoying.

Well okay, I read all your responses and you were absolutely NO help in deciding. :rotfl: I guess we will see how the budget works out each year and go from there.

Better yet try one of each and see which one YOU like best. Clearly a very personal decision.

We like to go once or twice a year and spend 7 to 9 days. Anything shorter then that is too short for me. It takes me 3 days to get into vacation mode!

I think more often shorter would be my choice if I didn't have to fly.
