...and boy are they slacking. I specifically went to this mall for the Disney Store (I didn't need anything from there, just wanted to look). Everything in it was junk. There were no clothes in it in the adult sizes (they used to have atleast a couple things). The store was a mess. And the biggest disappointment was that not one CM said a word to me. I didn't hear any of them utter one word to any of the guests in the store. And the kicker is that there was one standing by the door when I was leaving and she didn't even say bye. LOL. I completed the "Disney Dash" without even trying. I really hope my trip in February isn't as disappointing as the store. I seriously was really disappointed today. Was it just an off day today or have other people noticed the lack of the "Disney treatment"?

They just remodeled the Disney store at the mall I go to and there is nothing but junk in that store. Very disappinting. I miss the OLD disney store. :sad2:

That's a shame!! :guilty:

The Disney Store by me is fantastic!! :)
The store is always neat and the staff is always friendly. The store by you must have some bad management :earseek:

Disney doesn't own or run the Disney Stores any more, do they?

The thing is that every other time I have been in there, it was at least fairly decent, which is why it was disappointing. Today was the first time I have ever been in a Disney Store (with the exception of the one in Miami) that I wasn't even acknowledged in it. Maybe they were just busy with post-holiday clean-up/sales. Of course I haven't been there in a while, so maybe it was just today, maybe it is gradually deteriorating. I don't know.

No, they don't. Children's Place does.

Sorry you had a bad experience in your DS!

I really do love ours ~ it's clean, well-stocked, the CMs are so nice and they love to chat with the shoppers and the kids. The manager has been telling me all about her trips since I've been going in to stock up on Disney Dollars. ::MinnieMo
I really hope things get better at your local store! :wizard:

I walked past one tonight and DH and i both commented on how it's just a big cheap toy store now. There were none of the cute characters at the top like they used to have, or cool windows. The workers were standing behind the register talking to each other, it was crowded and looked like a thrift store. Actually, it looked just like the Disney Store Outlet! Stuff thrown everywhere, fixtures jammed in, nothing on the walls, etc.

Very sad.

The Disney Stores in my area are all still nice - friendly employees, clean stores, same decor. They have not carried as much adult stuff for a year or two now, and though that is disappointing to me, it is a big plus to my son who can look at more things for him!

There were two in San Antonio, I don't know if they are both still operating. I did go to the one at RiverCenter about a month ago. The merchandise isnt near the quality it was, but I did get a shirt for $5. The store itself was tidy, but the employees definately were not trained by Disney.

I was at a local Disney store on Tuesday and it was a complete mess. Things were all tossed about and stuff was all over the floor. There was plenty of staff working, but they were too busy chatting it up to mind the store. I hate having to dig through a ton of stuff to find something so instead of taking my time around the store to see what else there was (that I proabably would have brought) I just got my one item and left. The store used to be great, but it was lousy. Im hoping it was lingering from the day after Christmas rush. Will give it another chance, but ugh.

Ours is still nice, but going down hill. It still has the decorations around the top and about half of the staff are cheery people who actually like going to Disney and will chat about trips and whatever, but the other half is high schoolers who just stand around and look dumb.. If I lived closer (it's across the river :(), I'd apply there.. at least I'd be a Disney-loving high schooler :p

The one in Richmond is not the same as it use to be either, not even worth a 15 minute drive. :sad1:

Since Childrens Place took it over I have noticed our has changed alot too, it is always a mess and some one the staff are not even friendly. Ours is in a fairly new mall too...it is a shame.

As posted earlier, Disney does not own/run/operate the Disney Store. I don't know how much of an employee turnover there was. I'm worried that because Children's Place owns it now that there will be a decline in availability of adult clothes. Technically the employees are not CM's. :confused3

I used to be an Asst. Mgr at a Disney Store 10 yrs ago. When I worked there-we were true Disney cast members-proud of our jobs and having the opportunity to spread that pixie dust that you normally could only get in the parks.... I left right around the time they got rid of the cute cheerleader costumes because they started to change in quite a few ways.... I still shopped there of course, but the saddest thing was when they were bought out by the Children's Place. Most of the CM's in our store were replaced by Children's Place employees that have no concept of the magic of Disney-the stores look like a yard sale-it used to be that there would only be sales the day after Christmas and Easter-never any other time-now it's a permanent discount store it seems-the products are not as exciting... we used to have die-hard collectors coming in for the watch collections and Ron lee collectibles-there are no such things anymore. So sad :guilty: to see it go downhill....

Since CP took over, I HATE the Disney Store. There is absolutely NOTHING in there for adults unless you want a coffee mug.

Funny that LindsayDunn should mention coffee mugs, because that is the last thing I bought from the Disney Store! :rotfl: I bought a set of 4 Nightmare Before Christmas mugs after Halloween that were marked down to $3 each.

DS is 9 and I haven't seen anything that he would want for awhile. I bought matching shirts for DS and DH for 4th of July - they didn't have my size. After 4th of July I bought a baseball cap for DS on clearance, and we also bought a Mickey light up mini fan on clearance over the summer. My total for merchandise purchases over the past year was maybe $30. I bought about $600 worth of Disney Dollars but we used every bit of that in the parks, not in the store.

We were in the Disney Store yesterday and I didn't see ANYTHING I wanted to buy! Luckily I didn't go to the mall specifically to go to that store. It is just about time for me to start stockpiling Disney Dollars for the August trip, but it is safe to say I won't be buying anything else! The mall across the street from us has a big new section that is SUPPOSED to have a new "flagship" Disney store in it. We'll see. They closed the Disney Store that was there about a year ago, saying they would re-open in the new section in early 2006. I have yet to see a space marked for Disney Store, though many of the spaces they are finishing out say what store will be there.
