Going on vacation is supposed to be fun, but now I feel bad. I definetly will donate money to Red Cross, but it will still feel odd trying to have a great time while people are still suffering. Hopefully people will get the money, rebuild their houses, and get back to being safe and happy.

I understand that you feel that way, and I would too, so I think if I were going I would maybe go to a store there and buy a few necessities to donate? Try to have fun because you have worked hard to have this trip, and it was an act of God, you are not to blame! Have fun!

At least you're thinking about people. A lot of people around here (and I live IN florida) don't even care.. just because we didn't get hit directly. It's sad.

i can certainly understand how you feel, but do try to have a good time! imagine what would happen if everyone cancelled...the lt. govenor was on tv saying that FL still welcomes its tourists...they need the tourism for their economy...so by keeping your plans, in a way you are helping!

Certainly do donate some $ to the red cross to help if you can...and then please do go and have a wonderful time. Aside from donating there is nothing much that most of us can do to help folks get back on their feet in FL...except to go ahead with our plans and continue to feed the local economy. thats my 2 cents!

I almost started a thread like this because I am feeling the same way. Having watched all of this unfold over the past weekend it is really hard to feel too happy when I know people have died. I really wish my trip wasn't this weekend. I, too, am going to donate to the Red Cross.

I am also watching this tropical depression they are talking about and I pray that it stays away from land for all of us!

My last night was booked in orlando at the peabody. Most hotels are still without power.... The bell captain happily took my donation of water, matchlite, shampoos, and baby wipes - all items being ASKED for. There are peope right in orlando needing help too. Orlando was a mess.
